I claimed MafiaCasino's welcome bonus as soon as I finished registering my new account. It offers a total of $750 in matched bonus cash, 200 free spins, and a Bonus Crab for one turn on the Claw Machine. The size of the collection and the selection it offers are typical for a NovaForge casino. BigClash, Supabet and Vegasino, for instance, also feature over 37,000 real money online casino games. It's much more than you'll find at the likes of Lemon and Tooniebet, with 5,400+ and 19,000+ games respectively.

If you're not sure where to start with Mafia online casino's games, there are categories like Top, New, and Exclusive to help you. I was happy to see that they also add holiday-themed games around certain seasonal events, including Christmas and Halloween.

There are also categories for Bonus Buys and Megaways slots. I love Megaways and MafiaCasino has more than 100 of them, so I spent some time playing titles like Atlantis Megaways and Doggy Riches Megaways.

I also like to explore the instant games section at any online casino, and Mafia has plenty to offer here. There are over 50 kinds of Plinko, as well as RNG crash games like Navigator and Aviatron.

The exclusive category is also a good size, although the games don't seem to be as exclusive as I thought. They're generally the same as those available across all NovaForge casinos. It would be nice if Mafia offered some titles that aren't available anywhere else.

What could improve

• Currency conversion – Some software developers, like OnAir, only display games in euros instead of Canadian dollars and cents.
• Unoriginal library – NovaForge tends to feature the same games at all of its casinos, so Mafia's menu doesn't stand out next to other sites like BigClash or Supabet.

Stellar software providers

MafiaCasino gets its games from 85+ software developers. Spinomenal (720+), Yggdrasil (460+) and Fazi (410+) lead the way when it comes to providing the most games. At the other end of the spectrum, there's Kiron and Mega, which provided just one game each when I reviewed the site.

This is an impressive number of developers to find at an online casino. It's similar to the number available at Dragonia. It doesn't, though, beat the Spinrise games collection, which has over 140 providers backing it. The average number of providers at Canadian online casinos is around 50, so Mafia is ahead of the average.

Recognizable developers include Microgaming, Relax Gaming, and Hacksaw Gaming. I did notice some big names missing like Pragmatic Play, which meant I couldn't play my favourite Sugar Rush. But there were plenty of other great games to try.

I was especially impressed with the large number of instant games, courtesy of providers like Betsoft, InOut, and 7777 Gaming. If you're looking for something other than slots or table games, Mafia has a large selection of Plinko, crash games, and my favourite Chicken Road series.

A deep dive into the live casino

Mafia's live casino is home to 1,400+ games. It's similar to the size of the live menus at Dragonia and Neon54, providing plenty of options to keep me entertained.

The game menu includes blackjack, roulette, game shows, baccarat & dice games, and poker. There's also a category dedicated to international tables, which mostly include roulette and blackjack.

I recognized developers like ICONIC21, Stakelogic, and Winfinity, who are known for their high-quality games. Game shows are my favourite live games, and I found 190 titles here like Agent Spinity and Crash Live.

I also had fun trying out a few of the blackjack and roulette tables. Mafia has tournaments focused on live games like Gold Saloon Live, which is a nice touch since most casinos just focus on slot tournaments.

Flexible CAD payments coupled with crypto

There are 14 online casino payment methods available at Mafia. That beats the eight you'll find on average, including at sites like Jackpot City. There's a good mix of cryptocurrencies and traditional options including cards, e-wallets, and Interac.

I was especially impressed with the number of digital wallets available. I could choose between MuchBetter, MiFinity, Skrill, and Neteller. Unfortunately, though, the casino excludes Skrill and Neteller from triggering deposit bonuses.

The minimum deposit amount is $20 for most payment methods. The exceptions are $15 for PaysafeCard and the equivalent of $45 for Bitcoin. An average of $20 for minimum deposits is standard across Canadian casinos. For example, however, Lemon Casino deposits with Interac start at $10.

Deposits are simple at Mafia; the money lands in your account right away and there are no added fees. I've made deposits using Interac, Mastercard, Apple Pay, and crypto, and each time it was a breeze.

• Wide range of methods – There are 14 different banking methods to choose from here. This is almost double the number you'll find at many casinos in Canada.
• Hybrid options – Some sites are CAD or crypto only, but you don't have to worry about that here. Mafia accepts both cryptocurrency and traditional fiat options.

The negatives

• High Bitcoin minimums – Bitcoin has the highest minimums, set at $45 for deposits and $90 for withdrawals. By comparison, Gizbo Casino's Bitcoin deposits start at the equivalent of $20.
• Low withdrawal maximums – Mafia limits its daily withdrawals to $750 and monthly withdrawals to $10,500. JustCasino is much higher at $6,000/day or $42,000/month.

How to deposit in six steps

I was able to load my MafiaCasino account in just a couple of minutes. Here are the steps:

1. First, I went to the casino website and logged in.
2. I clicked on the red button that looks like a stack of coins to go to the payment page.
3. I selected my payment method, Interac, from the list of options.

The High rating places MafiaCasino in good company. Our reviews of Pledoo and WinSpirit put those sites in the same category. A few factors, though, prevented it from getting a Very High rating.

We've classified the site as a very big casino, with yearly revenues of around $1 million. This means Mafia online casino should have no problem paying out winnings promptly. According to the complaints we've received from real players, problems get resolved.

The casino's terms and conditions had the biggest impact on the overall score. One clause states players must withdraw bonus winnings immediately after meeting wagering requirements to avoid extra winnings being capped. Players that aren't aware of this rule might find their winnings withheld, and we consider this unfair.

Other terms we disagree with involve penalizing low-risk play or other betting strategies. In our opinion, using simple strategies is a natural part of gameplay. There's too much room for interpretation here, and we'd like to see Mafia reword this to prevent players from being unfairly punished. I tried the live chat at several different times of day, and was always connected quickly. This seems to be the norm for NovaForge casinos, because I also received fast responses during my reviews of BigClash and Cleobetra.

The agents I connected to were all friendly and ready to help. When I did have to wait for them to find the answer to my question, it was never for more than a minute or two. I was very satisfied with my live chat experience.

I also tried Mafia online casino's email support. While it's not as fast as the live chat, I always prefer to use it for more complex problems. It took about 16 hours for a response, which I found reasonable. In comparison, Jackbit Casino took five days to reply so anything under 24 hours is a reasonable response time to me.

Where it shines

• 24/7 support – I contacted the live chat at several times of day and it always took less than a minute to connect to an agent.

Where it falls short

• No phone number – We couldn't find a phone number to speak to a support agent directly. This is something Tooniebet, by comparison, offers Canadian players.
