Relax Gaming follows up Sloth Tumble with Epic Dreams, which has a reduced maximum win of 5,000x, but still packs of plenty of charm and some enjoyable bonus action.
Read full reviewEpic Dreams is a sloth-themed game from the team at Relax Gaming. The slot is a follow-up to the popular Sloth Tumble game from the same developer.
The Epic Dreams slot reintroduces audiences to Chip, the charming sloth that was front and center for the Sloth Tumble slot. In this instance, Chip is seen at the side of the reels sporting an eye mask, presumably having been woke up by all of the construction and theme-park action going on around his house.
The game’s graphics are superb, which is exactly what we have come to expect from Relax Gaming. It looks like it could have been designed for an animated movie, with some excellent sequences bringing Chip and the rest of his world to life.
Of course, this more playful tone may not be for everyone and may even turn some players away.
Epic Dreams takes place on a six-by-seven grid, with a maximum of 117,649 ways to win available, similar to what you would find in a Megaway slot. However, on a standard spin, only the top three rows of each reel, with one symbol on the row underneath, will land. Any wins will then trigger a Tumble sequence, which will unlock subsequent rows.
The rest of the action is fairly straightforward. Players can adjust the stake using the stack of coins icon at the side of the screen, with the betting range varying depending on the online casino you are playing at.
As we have already mentioned in this Epic Dreams slot review, whenever players land a win, they will uncover more of the game grid. If players uncover the entire grid, the Bonus Pick feature is launched. If a Super Bonus symbol is active on the grid’s bottom row, the Super Bonus Pick is triggered.
Players get to choose between the Dig Bonus and the Build Bonus. If it is a Super Bonus Pick, they get to choose from the Super version of these features.
The Dig Bonus takes you under the ground and starts with five free spins. Every third stone block row destroyed on the grid will reveal a level row, rewarding an additional spin. At the start of each spin, any stone block rows from the previous spin remain. Each spin starts with four rows.
You will also run into Treasure Chest symbols that can help along the way. The following features can be found in them:
Coin symbols will be on the grid throughout and are collected and added to the win if players unlock them. It is also possible for the Chests to contain a Super Orb. If you get three of these, you will upgrade the round to the Super Dig Bonus. This awards two extra spins every time a row is cleared, and you get an additional five spins.
The other option is the Build Bonus, which takes place high in the trees. This starts with three rounds, with three symbols dropping onto an empty grid with a Multiplier Ladder next to it. Every time a row is filled, you will move up the Multiplier Ladder, which starts at x1. You will secure a win by filling a row, with each symbol paying for a minimum of 3 of a kind, as per the paytable. The current Multiplier on the ladder is applied to all wins.
Treasure Chests and Coin Symbols can drop onto the grid. The Treasure Chests can reveal the following modifiers:
Like the Dig Bonus, Orb Symbols can also be collected during the round to upgrade it to the Super Build Bonus.
You can win the maximum amount of 5,000x your stake in both rounds. In the Dig Bonus, you need to clear 50 rows, and in the Build Bonus, you need to fill 50 rows.
Players have the option to buy their way into either of the bonus rounds.
Epic Dreams has a maximum win of 5,000x your stake and an RTP of 96.10%, which puts it marginally above average, according to our online slot strategy guide. Relax Gaming rates the slot highly volatile.
Epic Dreams is a fun follow-up to Sloth Tumble, even if it doesn’t quite pack the same punch in the winning department. The game’s design is a lot of fun, and the bonuses, while initially a little complex, provide some enjoyable sequences and deliver some wins.
