Theme and Style

Cash Quest slot presents the player with a whole world. With just a few references to standard fantasy icons, the designers at Hacksaw Gaming hint at a strange land of witchcraft and wizardry.

The reels sit in front of a woodland background with overgrown ruins, treasure chests, and the remnants of medieval armour. On the reels, spellbooks and magical gems sit alongside potion bottles, painted skulls, and tavern hams to name just a handful of the artefacts in play.

Graphics, Sounds and Animations

The graphics of Cash Quest are top notch, with each of the symbols given a great deal of character. The art-style holds everything together and suggests a unified world in which the player can go adventuring.

The animations are simple but numerous. Each symbol has its own winning animation – for example, the hams are eaten, the skulls are smashed, and the bottles uncorked. Even the background is given a little life by the animators—leaves drift slowly in the background.

The soundtrack lets things down a little. The music sounds like it comes from a modern rom-com, and the win and spin effects are all fairly generic slot sounds. Players can mute these features, but what the Cash Quest’s atmosphere really needed was for the sound design to have been given the level of effort shown in the visuals.

Gameplay

Cash Quest is played on a six-by-six grid. Winning combinations are formed from any group of five or more matching symbols as long as they are all connected by vertical or horizontal contacts.

This game has a cascade feature which removes winning symbols and allows new symbols to fall down. Any new winning combinations are then calculated and if necessary, the cascade is repeated.

The base gameplay is well-paced, with some variety thrown in by the Boostbar. This feature is activated when a Boostbar symbol lands on the reels. When this happens, the Boostbar is unlocked and its four positions are randomized. Depending on what lands in the Boostbar positions, the player can get split symbols, a respin of the whole grid, matching symbols added to the reels, or multipliers added to any wins with an assigned symbol.

There is also a Lock symbol on the Boostbar, which blocks that position on the Boostbar until the next time the Boostbar is activated.

Wilds, Bonuses and Free Spins

The Wild symbol in Cash Quest slot can substitute for any other symbol apart from the Free Spin symbol.

The Free Spin symbol triggers the Free Spin bonus when three or more land anywhere on the grid. The player gets 10 free spins.
