A pretty, if somewhat thematically unclear, slot machine with a nice RTP. Pros: nice to look at, well animated. Cons: needs more free spins!
The exact theme or story of Charming Lady Luck is a little hard to pin down. The background is a forest done in purple twilight colours. There is a rain of animated stars and the symbols are a collection of the usual Ace to Nine card values and items loosely associated with good luck (a four-leaf clover, a horseshoe, a leprechaun’s coin, a ladybird).
This hodgepodge of imagery actually works alright, mostly because they’re all quite nicely designed, but it lacks the immersive-ness of some other slots that are more precisely designed around a setting, idea, or theme.
The random symbols are all nicely drawn, the style is clear and easy to read, and everything is rendered in pretty high definition.
The animations are good for the spins but where the game really shines is in the little touches in and around these. When you set the number of win lines they spring out onto the board in a pleasing animation, so to do the help pages hover up over the screen. It suggests a pleasing attention to detail which is reflected at every level.
The music loops are nicely ambient and not too invasive. They can get pretty repetitive but it is easy enough to hit mute if you find they are getting into your head or onto your nerves.
Gameplay is smooth and works reasonably well. In reality, this is an unremarkable five reel, nine win-line slot but the integrations of the free spins and the way the animations jump into action when you win help to make it feel less dully repetitive than it might otherwise feel.
There is no bonus system for Charming Lady Luck, but the game does give you free spins if you hit three to five of the Free Spin symbol (a crystal ball, just to muddy the theme even further).
Three Free Spin symbols get you 5 free spins, four get you 10, and five get you 15. You cannot retrigger Free Spin symbols during the free spins. This is not many free spins and, 15 seems rather measly for hitting five symbols (a very difficult feat with this game).
As well as the Free Spins symbols, there are also Scatter symbols which are only added to the reels during free spins. These are where you can win a decent amount as hitting just two Scatters wins you 10 times your bet per spin and you can win up to 200 times your bet if you hit five of them.
The RTP of 97.32% is above average and a definite draw.
Coin values are pretty tightly regulated and so it is harder to generate a wide range of bets unless your chosen site allows for a range of coin values. The game allows between 1 and 5 coins per line, at the site we tested that meant between €/$/£0.01 and €/$/£5.00 per line.
You can further finesse this with anywhere from 1 to 9 lines, but even so the maximum bet was €/$/£45.00 per spin. Plenty high-enough for most people, but likely to put the highest of rollers off.
Unfortunately, there is very little published info on the volatility of this slot but from the number of wins per spin when we tested it, it gives an impression of being medium to high volatility.
Overall, despite the very basic gameplay, we recommend this slot. We like the >97% RTP and the general look and feel of the game.
It would be nice if there were a more interesting bonus available, or anything else to break up the gameplay.
If you don’t mind a simple set-up though, this could be the perfect slot for you.
