I'd say it's important to keep in mind that the casino always wins. So basically the money you lost is a fee for playing the casino games. Yes, you can be lucky sometimes, but from the long-term perspective, you spend more than you win.

I myself had a father who placed more value on money or material things than on his children.

As long as you play and win, the everyday stress is relieved, but as soon as you lose a large amount of money a different kind of stress starts and I am convinced that it does not matter whether you have enough play money or not.

The brain gets the "message": I LOSE ... and the stress is preprogrammed again.

I think that highly depends on whether we win or lose in case of reducing stress. No sane person would be reducing stress if they lost tons of money. Winning on the other hand might have a case for reducing stress as it makes you feel good.
