Sorry to hijack this thread but what about offshore, non-gambling commissioned regulated betting merchants who don't hide the fact they are gambling sites. Playhub Casino (who I have lost a considerable amount of money to) have their VISA Debit payments processed under PYD Processing which has the merchant code 7995. So they aren't hiding the fact they are a gambling merchant despite not being regulated by UKGC and that those transactions are illegal.

Does that help me much with a potential chargeback attempt? And am I right in thinking it's ultimately VISA themselves who make this decision on whether I'm due any kind of refund and they themselves shouldn't have allowed Playhub Casino to take UK Debit card payments in this way?

Usoftgaming - 7995 is the universal code a legitimate gambling business should use. Your only argument is that they accepted you as a UK player when they are not licenced to do so - you would have to check their T&Cs and their actual gambling licence(probably GCB or Curacao E-Gaming). If you had used a credit card then you might have a Section 75 case but it could be tricky when it comes to debit cards. Also, Usoftgaming allegedly will challenge all and any chargebacks against them. Think there was something on a processor they used called Pulsion Processing on another site - they challenged all the chargebacks in that particular case.

They tried disputing mine too, I asked them to provide the bank with GDPR and I sent the bank a little bits of evidence to prove I didn’t have any service from them. I bet they said you purchased nft art? Ask the bank to provide you with the address/ wallet they sent it to and ask the date of birth, any details they should have if you signed up to their website to make a purchase ect

Thank you for the really detailed reply on Playhub. If they do contest the chargeback, is it not up to Visa to refund without much of a fight on the grounds they took the payments illegally? Like Visa would be endorsing these payments effectively if they didn't do that and that's against the law?

Hi,

Playhub Casino (with payments going out as PYD Processing) are not masking their activity as they are using merchant code 7995.

How is that legal? I thought UK customers were not able to use betting companies in Curacao and Visa would therefore not allow debit card payments for it? I've seen these companies masking as other types of companies. How are they getting away with it?

I'm disputing the payments with my bank anyway as Playhub Casino have broke their T&C with me but as I was doing so was surprised by this merchant code.

I head back from the FCA today asked a few questions which I answered.

More info requested

We’d be interested in having some further details about this situation, and so would appreciate it if you were able to provide us with the following information:

Do you have an account with SumUp? - No

What type of account do you have with The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc? - Current account

Have you contacted them regarding the scam, if so what have you been told? - Yes they only replied yesterday after a couple of weeks wait asking for my card number and receipts of the transactions which I do not have as I never got anything for them, I sent all I had to them.

Did you authorise these payments? - I did

If you did authorise the payments did your bank ask you what these payments were in relation to? - Yes I have told them what it was, I had a gambling block on and I am registered on gamstop and they also allocated me a gambling advisor previously. I tried to raise chargebacks they refused and I have raised a complaint which is nearly two weeks old(have had successful chargebacks previously for the same thing with the bank miscoding of MCC and transaction laundering

It took about 60days, I spoke to my bank said they were gambling transactions and that the casinos in question were scams and not licensed in the uk, I then said they passed on my data and I had no goods or services from them.
