Lots to go through since I last posted, I agree with CryptoG worryingly in some instances I think people are starting to use this to free roll.
I was up front with my two banks and this is what I used, please feel free to adapt it. I also agree that you need to make it bespoke to you otherwise it will trigger something within the banks that they just reject all if a standard template.
I am writing to formally request a chargeback for recent transactions processed on my account. The details of the transaction are as follows.
Date of Transaction: 13/9/24 and 16/9/24 and 19/9/24
Amount: 104.14, 208.24, 104.54, 104.54 and 100.26, 107.54 (approx amounts as these have increased)
Merchant Name: Balon tech ltd, Newton OS ltd and ZPDG and Wpbazar.
As someone struggling with gambling addiction, I had placed a gambling blocks on my accounts several years ago to prevent any gambling-related transactions (debit cards), I also signed up for a credit card because I cannot withdraw cash and all transactions for gambling get blocked.
Unfortunately, I recently relapsed and deposited funds to an online casino. Despite the gambling block in place, the casino employed a fraudulent merchant to disguise the true nature of the transaction, thereby bypassing the block by using an incorrect Merchant Category Code (MCC).
This practice, known as "transaction laundering," is in direct violation of VISA regulations and qualifies the transaction for a chargeback. The casino's intentional use of a fraudulent merchant to circumvent the gambling block is a clear breach of VISA rules. If the MCC had been correctly set, the transaction would not have been authorised, please note I know it would have been difficult for you to block an altered MCC, however you should be completing a chargeback/section 75 as these companies have not provided goods or services, I have also found evidence of two recent FOS cases which support a chargeback being initiated..
I took the proactive step of setting up restrictive measures to avoid gambling, but the purposeful and illegal practice of transaction laundering exploited a vulnerability in the system, facilitating this transaction despite the block.
Although I authorised the transaction, I did not receive any goods or services from this merchant. The funds were directed to the online casino, which used this merchant to bypass the gambling restrictions on my account. The expected delivery date for any goods or services, if applicable, would be the same as the transaction date. However, since no goods or services were provided by the merchant, I am requesting a chargeback.
Please also note multiple cash transactions were blocked as these companies tried to bypass any merchant codes at all.
In light of these circumstances, I kindly request that you process a chargeback for the full amount of the transaction. I appreciate your understanding and prompt attention to this matter. Could you also provide contact details of these transactions so I can report to action fraud.
Thank you for your assistance.
All of my chargebacks were accepted by the banks after complaining, Mastercard one was goods not received and Visa was incorrect code 12.7 that bypassed credit card law on gambling.
If the banks reject it/reject complaint don’t waste your time with them go straight to the FOS as the banks won’t change their decision unless FOS make them.
I will hang around for a few more days to assist, but then I think I will leave as the information is here for everyone. I suggest like others have said please all do seek help as we are all addicted to this, Gamban and Moses for the shops has been a gift for me 28 days gamble free now.
I have also flagged with UKGC and provided all details, hopefully like others have said they will act on this and either block the websites being accessed or stop them from accepting debit card and credit cards.
Good comparisons you make.
Do you get paid when you help your old mother with something too?
But absolutely, someone wants to get paid to share tips and people are willing to pay for it so go for it.
Bra jämförelser du gör.
Tar du betalt när du hjälper din gamla mor med något också?
Men absolut, vill någon ha betalt för att dela med sig av tips och folk är villiga att betala för det så kör på.
Chase and Barclaycard.
That letter was to Barclaycard hence the notes about credit cards, I amended it for Chase but I still had a gambling block on so kept that bit in.
Chase was minimal money £40 on 2 deposits so assume that’s why I had success and others haven’t.
I have a complaint currently with revolut which I do have a gambling block on.
i have stolen some of your template to add on to the complaint as Ive not yet had a response, however the charge back is already marked invalid so assume they can not re attempt however, i have a number of big ones that have happened since I made the complaint which total around £700 so maybe they could raise them if they accepted the complaint. Who knows? I suspect my account being closed and all money lost.
thank you!
I would like to think that the FOS would side with you as they should raise chargeback as the gambling block has been bypassed through fraudulent means.
I think 100% once the ombudsman gets involved they back down and raise them this happened to me for two different banking facilities as they know they will lose the case and need to pay from their own money plus pay interest
I will make that my next step! But I am very unsure how to approach things like this so I dont know how Id compose it really and what to say / do. 😢
The bank says my payments all went through sum up I read their t&c’s and it appears they have breached them accepting gambling payments and by disguising the name and not sending any receipts so ive told Kinghills about this and that I will contact sumup about this if they dont refund me and also sent it on to the chargeback team

Hello! I also live in Sweden, and have a lot of transactions from just these people, but even though I read through this whole thread, I'm not sure how to proceed. Could I ask you some questions via message or mail? Am desperate and lost, so any guidance is gratefully received!
Hej!
I've added you on Discord, hope it's ok. (Sit with the same banks as you and am just about to start my process for chargeback.)
Jag har lagt till dig på Discord, hoppas det är ok. (Sitter med samma banker som du och ska just påbörja min process för chargeback.)
The FOS just work on facts, so when you come to log it with them there are various boxes to fill in. It’s just about making them aware that the bank should raise the chargeback, refer the two other cases that won and they will do the rest. You don’t need to change anything just be truthful as all the previous information will be stored by the bank.
