Theme and Storyline

Wild Heist as Peacock Manor manages to evoke in one breath the cartoon stylings of Hanna Barbera, the crime literature of the late 1800s (in particular the gentleman thieves Raffles and Moriarty), and the much more recent phenomenon of the comedy heist movie.

We follow a sneaky foursome of no-goods and reprobates as they attempt to steal the golden peacock statue that gives the titular manor house its name.

Along the way, they pick locks, dodge the rozzers, and sneak past thoroughly steam-punk security systems.

Graphics, Sounds and Animations

Peacock Manor is rendered for us in a truly delightful art style. A kind of children’s book watercolour and ink illustration that feels era-appropriate and lends the game charm.

Unfortunately, like many Thunderkick games, the resolution of the imagery can be rather low which gets in the way of its natural prettiness. This shouldn’t be an issue on a phone screen but on a big desktop might be a dealbreaker for some players.

The music has a similarly nostalgic feel, evoking comedic stealth in the style of The Pink Panther and other comedy capers of the sort.

Gameplay

The gameplay, on the other hand, is almost entirely devoid of character. The base game is a standard five by three slot.

There are seventeen win lines, which is why all wins are relative to the bet per spin, rather than per line. To do otherwise would be to invoke the complications of dividing and multiplying by seventeen.

But what really makes Wild Heist at Peacock manner shine are the various forms of Wild symbol which can be triggered at random during the base game and the bonus free spin game which is designed to result in a different bonus every time you play (see below for details).

Wilds, Bonuses and Free Spins

The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter symbol. During the base game special Wilds can be randomly triggered. These can either make one reel be all Wilds, add up to seven Wilds at random to the reels, or add a Walking Wild which triggers a respin then moves one space to the left. Walking Wild respins continue until the Wild has walked off the reels.

The Scatter symbol serves as a trigger for the bonus. Hitting three gives you a run at the bonus game with three picks. Every Scatter over three you hit gives you an additional pick.

The picks are used in a quick picking game in which a series of face down cards are picked. Each card can give you additional free spins (you start with seven free spins), increased multipliers (you start with a times one multiplier) and a range of cards which add one of the three random Wilds to all your spins.

During the bonus a re-pick can be triggered by hitting two or more additional Scatters.

With the picking game over, the Free Spin bonus begins with the number of free spins, multipliers and additional feature spins that the player won in the picking game.

During the bonus game, the spins have applied to them any Wilds and multipliers that the player won during the picking game.
