I was honest and did say it was gambling related, but then sent them a tonne of stuff basically showing that the company acted illegally and i was unable to cash out also, they basically just replied gambling mastercard ToS, i'd bet my money on the fact they saw gambling then declined it without reading anything else, i've contacted the ombudsman and they've agreed to take my case, but are being super slow on assigning me an agent. I asked chase in regards to the wrong coding etc, and on what grounds they declined despite the evidence, they couldn't answer so that's when they passed it to another team, only to say they can't answer again and it'll have to go to the ombudsman, they're the worst bank going honestly, once this is settled i'm closing the account.

This is what happened to me on my Jokabet one but Jokabet refunded directly, same thing "specialised team" then no response and when I chased them said gambling.

Hopefully the ombudsman side with you, I think when the banks fail they do but if they give a good response then FOS tend to side with them.

Same I will keep them for using abroad as cheapest but nothing else.

Hi Radka,

What is your opinion or Casino Guru's team for this whole situation? The deeper you dig into the merchant miscoding issues the more you will find out that this scheme is being set up to be able to collect more deposits from (problem) gamblers as their banks would not suspect its a casino deposit bypassing potential limits from the banks. It also is done to avoid being labelled high risk by banks which could have benefits for them too.

The only positive side is that for us players (if we end up gambling on an illegal casino in our country) that we can file a chargeback which in most cases is won as the merchant wont risk to expose his own fraud scheme 😉

Hello,

I somehow missed out on this post. Sorry for the delay. I think I explained my point of view, which is more or less the same for our Community Team. No one else is that "familiar" with this forum subject because the rest of the CG is not active on the forum, so I guess there is nothing else to add from my side. 🤷‍♀️

The negative effects of using the wrong merchant codes are, in my opinion, fairly clear. This thread, however, has been showing how each nation, bank, or card issuer reacts to that. This is a shadow zone in many countries, in my opinion. Even more complicated is the legal component, and I do not know enough about related national and international laws and regulations to be of any use...

Let me check my post history but basically I emailed saying it’s restricted in UK, you have bypassed a gambling block etc. Initially they said no, then I emailed saying I am charging back and you are acting illegally in as I am UK based. Next thing I got an email saying £200 refunded in 3 days which it was to be fair to them

Hi Radka they are not supposed to operate in the UK without a license basically.

Oh okay mate I see. Same thing happened to me with jokabet currently got a complaint on here with them. I see them refunding a lot of Uk players but when emailing them they were adamant I won’t get a refund

I may be incorrect but when I had the refund and someone else did their terms stated we accept UK players, and allow you to join but someone noted that they have now removed accepting UK players from terms?

In their terms it states Uk as a restricted country and restricted to depositing and playing as a Uk player.

have you got Instagram I can contact you on?

No sorry I don’t I have email or twitter.

So that’s changed the thing is legitimate bookmakers in other countries when you try to join UK isn’t an option and therefore you cannot proceed, however with these ones they may say it’s restricted but I bet you can still join from UK.

They seemed to be the better ones to deal with, I assume them and king hills being linked and refunding are slightly more legitimate than the others perhaps and they want to ensure no hassle on the non restricted countries?

Paul is correct that any of these should have the same message up front and not bypass it.

Ok they must have multiple sites as look at the web address they both have different numbers in them that shows its a scam

Yeah I emailed with them for ages and they always rejected giving me a refund despite explaining their own terms
