Hello,

Based on many  casinos/providers restrictions, terms and rules, I would like to open discussion arround VPN.

Do you have any experiences of usage VPN. What do you think about it?

Did you already use VPN anytime?

Have you ever been exposed of suspicion VPN usage and have been penalized or blocked? How the casino did control/check/verificate/reviewed their suspicion?

Which VPN software do you know and which is the best based on your experiences or knowledge?

Based on substantiated evidence, so far I know only one casino, which in my opinion is one of the best and makes continuous checks on the connection and can detect the use of VPN but I keep it until the discussion.

Note that this is an anonymous discussion and you can share not only the personal experiences but also the experiences of your surroundings that you know.

I think that this discussion is quite a current and interesting topic at nowadays of "constraints".

Thank you for every contribution in advance

i am located in germany and there are only a few provider that i am not allowed to play...actually merkur blueprint and igt.

so there is not really a need to use a vpn connection at the moment. but i tryed it a few times anyway.

i didn't pay for the vpn connection i used the free vpn option from the opera browser.

in my experience, 98 % of all casinos prohibit the use of vpn. if you still use a vpn connection, there is a risk

that you will not receive your winnings if the casino notices your vpn connection.

Actually what's the point of using VPN? If the casino restricts your country of residence because of any reason and you bypass it with VPN, then there's a high chance that you won't get paid in case you win something bigger, because the casino would say that your country is restricted. As long as you keep losing, they don't have much reasons to close your account, but once you win something bigger, they have imho right to close your account and void the winnings.

that is true if your country is restricted it make no sense to play in this casino anyway. i think it is more about playing provider that you can't play with your normal connection...some casinos tolerate/allow this.

When I can not play or do not allow me to register, I simply do not enter since later you can not withdraw money, and that if you can not claim or demand a refund. Better not to risk it and if the server announces that you can't go over the top

How does it work when you need to verify your home address in the casino? Do you send them the proof of address showing that you're from Russia even when Russia is marked as one of the restricted countries on their website?

Sorry for long delay.

Germany is good location for gambling and I understand you did not need use VPN but others players in different countries are not so lucky as you. Ussualy free VPN(s) are useless and easily to detect. You are right 98% of casinos prohibited VPN but not all of them can find out its use and I think 2% of thousands casinos who do not solve VPN is more than enough :)

Daniel,

of course it is stupid using VPN for casinos where can not be verified as official player and risk of taking winnings or lost  own money.

I know many reasons for using VPN but please keep it mind I  don’t support using VPN where is prohibited but I understand that somebody has not any other choice than use VPN sometimes.

There are many casinos which do not allow playing from some jurisdiction but accept players from this territory or next example, casino accept some territory, dont deal with jurisdiction and accept new players from country but IP of country is blocked from unknown reasons (it can be blocked by internet provider based on government-mandated rules  or any other reasons and etc.) and in the last case you can use VPN based on that the casino does not have VPN usage prohibited and you can play any games or providers what you wish and without VPN are not usualy available for you.

Hello,

Agree with CyberGhost, working great.

Please could you let me know which casinos were blocked you based on using VPN? How they found out? What form of confrontation did they use after a suspicion??

From my personal experience and opinion is realy difficult detect VPN connection. "Somebody" often used VPN for many different testing of website in past and I've never seen a pernament ban and deleted account. I have only one experience with casino suspicion but casino had not any clear proof of use VPN and was not able enforce their rules and asked for additional verification which was not change anything indeed.

Let's put together the facts of VPN, possibilities of detection and etc.

Lots of VPNs use cloud service providers to host their servers and if a site wanted to, they could just detect that the connection isn't coming from a domestic/retail ISP. It's easy to say if a connection is coming from Amazon or someone like that.

There are also lists a site can buy which can tell them which IP ranges come from known VPNs.

Finally, if it is a VPN coming from an unknown source, can you detect it? Badly. You can detect long latency in connections which indicate its been routed around and not direct, this is more useful when you want to detect someone in another country.

There NO way to determine this automatically with 100% accuracy about using VPN. So what they do is to check users IP address manually, and if they belong to a data center instead of residential IPs, they assume that the user is connecting from a VPN. They tag these data center names and run an IP whois check from now on to find other users connecting from similar data centers and block.

This is a similar practice with blacklisting VPN providers. Instead of VPN providers, they are actually blacklisting data center IPs.

Remember that those websites can execute code on your browser (either Flash or Javascript).

When this happens they can read the network configuration of your computer.

Now, it doesn’t matter if you use a firewall or not. The configuration is there for them to read.

You may get smarter though: instead of installing a VPN interface on the machine where you are actually doing, you may install it between your machine and the internet.

You can do so in two ways:

1. By installing a VPN client directly in your router, or

2. Creating a virtual machine within your computer, installing the VPN client in your real machine and playing in your virtual one.

By doing so, no one will be able to understand if you are using a VPN or not, unless of course they black-list the VPN’s IP addresses.

I have been traveling to Berlin for the past two months and after trying to log in to my Pokerstar account which I have been stating for years. I realized that I was immediately logged out. It was so frustrating. I was able to get access to my account with a thousand stars and about 13000EUR in it. I sent a number of messages to support, but no response. Last week I came across a review by a certain tech expert who came to my rescue with a few recovery hacks using SQL injections. I could get it in 24 hours. It was really worth it and I am prepared for any keylogger or account problems in the future. I am confident that I will no longer have any problems with it.

The point of using the VPN is not only for hiding your location, but also for security reason. Are the VPN refused in online casinos in general, or I would be ok if I am located in Sweden and use Sweden VPN location?
