Hi Nathan do not want to mention the bank as I was lucky they did it I think but I did have to work at it got referred to their gambling support and gamstop and their citizens advice support and the complaint got rejected twice but I just kept at it highlighting my mental health etc and that there are similar cases online where the ombudsman paid it all out and sent them it then I started a case with ombudsman and he contacted them fast after about two weeks then they did them all mentioning about the incorrect merchant code I also stated other credit cards did them with no reply all money recovered they are well aware but try to sweep it away as its hassle for them I then told the ombudsman to leave the case as they were doing them they raised them then said anymore let us know and I found loads of them I had used their card gambling block as well and on numerous incidents the fraud called me to block the card and told me to raise chargebacks which they kept rejecting so it was deffo getting swept under the carpet its contentious I argued that as a bank they were not acting in my interests and siding with the scammers and on the call when they started to raise them they agreed I also stated I spoke several times with fraud got new cards etc about my gambling but they let it run by the time it was all blocked and they issued support it was way too late

Ahh I see, got it. Thanks Paul! I really appreciate the help. We're all partly to blame for this, but it's hard when these horrible companies take advantage of people with addictions.

No probs I apologised for all the hassle I caused they said there is no company connected to the transactions its good in a way as I will never use my bank card again to do it plus got all the money back to pay off all the debt

Great news! Yeah, the one thing I'm worried about is it leaving a black mark on my credit report or something that will effect me in the future.

I've emailed a ton of merchants in relation to my transactions, will give them a week, if I get any responses I will share them in the thread. If no luck, I will share any success I have with the bank.

I think it’s great that the ombudsman is starting to see some complaints referred as it means the banks cannot hide behind any fake reasons for not returning our money.

I have sent two decisions from others to Barclaycard to hopefully stop having to go the complaint route.

Hi Meg.

I had began contact with omsbudsman when they started doing them so I told him its ok they are doing them now no doubt they probs had to or I would have won the case and then they need to pay out plus an interest fee but that takes longer so I was glad it was done quicker there is no harm in raising with him first though the bank also advised me to use him if not happy with the outcome as well,

That’s a shame but even the card payments would be a help. I’ve contacted the bank on and off since July, some departments tell me I’ve got a good case for getting a dispute for the transactions then when I get through to disputes/fraud they throw it straight out of the window. I’ve contacted action fraud, who couldn’t understand why the bank won’t act upon my case too. They’ve told me to contact the ombudsman but I don’t know if I’m wasting my time even more 😩 absolutely chuffed that your bank helped you. I’ve searched my bank provider name on the thread and can’t see any successful refunds with them.
