Case summary

The player from Germany had deposited €35 using a friend's account and had won €4000. The casino had requested account re-verification for withdrawal. Despite the player providing all necessary documents, the casino cancelled the withdrawal, blocked the account, and confiscated the winnings, citing a violation of third-party deposit terms and conditions. We had confirmed that the casino's actions were in line with their terms and conditions, which prohibited third-party payments. The player had failed to respond to our messages for further investigation, leading to the rejection of the complaint.

After using my friend's account to deposit €35 into my Platin Casino account, I won €4000. I aimed to withdraw this the next day, but I was required to verify my account again, seeing that my last withdrawal was almost two years ago (my last withdrawal was €200 also paid through a third party account). I eventually received my winnings after providing numerous requested documents such as the deposit account statement, my friend's ID, and various other documents. THIS DESPITE IT BEING A THIRD PARTY DEPOSIT!

I now find myself having to provide these documents all over again for the sake of confirming my account for the payout and I specifically pointed out prior to this that the deposit was made through my friend's account. I was then told that this was not a problem and that I should upload all the necessary third-party account documents, in addition to my own missing documents.

Two days later, after all the documents had been uploaded and cleared for review, my withdrawal was abruptly cancelled. Subsequently, I received an email stating that my account was being permanently blocked with immediate effect for breaking the terms and conditions regarding the third-party deposit. All my winnings were cancelled and the €35 that had been deposited were to be reimbursed back into the deposit account.

It is absolutely preposterous that "Platin Casino" allows third-party deposits just so they can line their pockets whilst players lose thousands of euros. Then, when they have to give back a little from it all and things get tough, they shut you out and suddenly you are the one who has crossed the terms and conditions. In my view and that of many other players, Platin Casino is the one overstepping the terms and conditions by willingly accepting third-party deposits without any issue. They do not even inform us that it is not our own account. Absolutely nothing!

We can go on depositing, continuously feeding the machine with money, but forget about getting a payout if you win anything.

I DEMAND MY WINNINGS BACK!

Dear TOMKALIBA,

Thank you very much for submitting your complaint. I’m sorry to hear about your problem. I have checked T&Cs, and this is what I found:

"11. DEPOSITING
...
Contact our support team at support@platincasino.com to inquire about the payment methods which are most favorable for your country of residence. Using third party payments is prohibited. You must make deposits only from a bank account, bank cards, e-wallets or other payment methods that are registered in your own name. If we determine during the security checks that you have violated this condition, your winnings will be confiscated and the original deposit will be returned to the owner of the payment account. The Company is not responsible for the lost funds deposited from third party accounts. Please note that the minimal amount of deposit is 20€ or an equivalent. The maximum amount of deposit depends on the payment method you decide to use and will appear when choosing the payment method."

Furthermore, please check our Fair Gambling Codex for Players:

"Payments
For deposits and withdrawals, you should only use bank accounts and credit cards held in your own name. If you don't do this, you might get into trouble when trying to make a withdrawal. This rule is mostly in place to prevent credit card misuse and also because of international anti-money-laundering regulations."

Please understand that this rule has been breached. Some exceptions might be allowed by casinos when depositing or withdrawing funds using a joint card or this possibility is communicated beforehand. Technically it is very difficult to check who’s the owner of the payment method at the depositing stage. This can be checked only during account verification, which is usually done when a withdrawal is requested. Therefore, it is a player’s responsibility to use allowed payment methods only.

If you’re not able to prove that you are a legitimate owner of the payment method and you haven’t received approval from the casino allowing you to use a third-party payment method, I’m afraid there’s not much we can do for you.

Thank you very much in advance for your reply and understanding.

Best regards,

Kristina
