Case summary

The player from the United Kingdom, while registered with GamStop, had been able to deposit significant amounts at Kinghills Casino despite having their bank cards blocked due to a severe gambling addiction. After self-excluding due to the impact on their life, the player sought compensation for the losses incurred. The Complaints Team concluded that since the casino was not licensed by the UKGC, the self-exclusion through GamStop did not apply, and the complaint was ultimately rejected due to the lack of response from the player.

I signed up to kinghills casino whilst I was registered with GamStop and living in Great Britain. My bank cards are also blocked and frozen from gambling transactions due to my severe gambling addiction. Kinghills allowed me to deposit in my own name from my own card very easily. At times I would deposit £1000+ in one go. There was no guidance at all despite my addiction. I have since self excluded from the site due to the severity of my addiction and it affecting my family and home life. I ended up homeless and it distroyed my life. I am looking for some sort of compensation for the money lost to kinghills if it is any way possible. Thanks in advance for your help

Dear Tt18,

Thank you very much for submitting your complaint. I’m sorry to hear about your problem with Kinghills Casino.

Unfortunately, as the casino is not licences at UKGC, your gamstop registration has absolutely zero effect and they could not know about your addiction if you did not contact them. Could you please advise if you have requested a self-exclusion from Kinghills Casino directly?

Is your account currently still open?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regards,

Nick

well my question would be… although the casino has listened to my request to self exclude, they have still allowed me to deposit despite me being registered on GamStop, they have still been able to take my deposits despite having gambling freezes on my bank accounts due to being in financial difficulty due to a gambling addiction, I have no case?

Dear Tt18,

As mentioned earlier, the casino is not licensed by the UKGC, so your self-exclusion through GamStop does not apply in this case.

A refund would only be possible if the casino failed to close your account after you had directly requested it from them.

Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Best regards,

Nick
