Theme and Style

Might of Freya gives the Megaways gameplay formula a Norse makeover, focussing on Freya. Freya is the Norse goddess of fertility, war, fortune-telling, and gold. Most importantly for this slot game, she travels in a chariot pulled by a pair of giant cats.

One of these cats appears on the reels along with eagles, magic horns, and a selection of Ace to Nine symbols. Freya herself appears both on the reels and at the side, where she watches over the player's game from a beach that looks like it is about to be stormed by Norsemen.

This slot will appeal to fans of Norse mythology, of cats, and of Valkyrie-like fantasy goddesses.

Graphics, Sounds and Animations

There is something a little odd about the artwork of Might of Freya Megaways. For something that is supposed to invoke the Dark Ages, the artwork has a very modern feel. The cats in particular are a breed that seems implausible in an Early Medieval period and are done in a style that feels more like AI artwork than a classic style.

The music is also oddly modern. There is a synthetic feel to much of the music that belies its twinkly, magical feel.

The animations are excellent, especially those of Freya, when she casts the spells that make some of the in-game features occur. However, on the whole, many of the visual elements of this game are a little out of place.

Gameplay

Might of Freya Megaways uses the Megaways format with its six reels, each of which gets a randomized number of symbols every spin. Megaways uses an anyway wins system and as a result, the number of win ways can vary widely each time the player hits the button and sets the reels in motion.

The game has a tumble feature where winning symbols are removed by a wave of Freya's wand and new symbols fall into place from above.

An ante bet allows the player to pay more per spin in return for an increased chance of hitting the Free Spin Bonus.

Players can win up to 8,000x the player's bet on one spin. After that, the win is capped and the round ends.

Wilds, Bonuses and Free Spins

The Wild symbol in Might of Freya Megaways is pretty typical. Players can use the Wild to fill in for any symbol except for the Super and Redrop symbols.

The Super symbol is a special Wild that adds Sticky Wild symbols to a random number of positions above it on the reel.
