Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water—Pragmatic Play returns with another Big Bass slot game. So, what makes this one a little different from the titles that are already out there?
The setting for this slot is very similar to the other Big Bass games. It takes place underwater, although the water here is a little murkier than we're used to.
There's no defined game grid, as the symbols appear directly on the backdrop. The reels are separated by animated lines of bubbles, which is a nice touch. Small schools of fish swim by in the background to help set the scene.
The soundtrack might come as a bit of a surprise. It's a reggae-influenced, island-style tune that kind of makes us want to get up and dance.
There are no real surprises (or should that be reel surprises?) here, as the gameplay is quite straightforward. Symbols like the lure, dragonfly, fishing rod, and tacklebox pay the most, while A, K, Q, J, and 10 symbols pay out smaller amounts.
The game is played on a simple grid of five reels and three rows, with 10 fixed paylines that are active every time you spin. You need at least three of the same symbol on adjacent reels from left to right on one of the paylines to trigger a win.
The fisherman appears on the grid during the Free Spins round in the form of the Wild symbol. He can substitute for other symbols on the grid (except the Scatter), to help you complete winning combinations. During Free Spins, you might also see the fish money symbols, which take on values of 2x and 1,000x your total bet amount. The Fisherman symbol collects the cash values for you.
But how do you get into the Free Spins round in the first place? You'll need to land at least three of the Scatter symbols to bag yourself 10 Free Spins. Four Scatters get you 15 spins, and five get you 20.
If only two Scatters land, a Respin can be triggered, where the reels with Scatters move down a position, and the other reels spin. A hook can also appear and pull one of the reels up to reveal another Scatter.
If the symbols land in your favor, you could get reely lucky and win up to 20,000x your stake. The volatility of Big Bass Bonanza 1000 is high, which makes for exciting gameplay with the potential for slightly larger wins. This is good news for us, as we always prefer slots with a high volatility.
The minimum bet is just $/€/£0.10 a go, but you can play for up to $/€/£250 on a normal spin or $/€/£375 with the Ante Bet if you're so inclined. With an RTP of 96.51%, this game is slightly above the industry average of 96%.
If you love all of the existing Big Bass slot games, you'll definitely want to give this one a try. But don't worry, you don't need to be a massive fan of the whole series to enjoy this slot in its own right. The best thing about this game is the Free Spins round, where you'll get a chance to collect money values. Without that, it would be just another good but not amazing Pragmatic Play title.
