Why are in-land casino slots all the same (UK)?

This may require a simple answer, or a more complicated one, I would just love to know what the reasons are behind this.

I always wonder, no matter the casino you choose in the UK (not that there are a big variety), why do they all contain essentially the same slots. Almost all of the popular online slots you will never find inside a casino in the UK, the slots that are there are all outdated, surely it would make some sense to the operators of these casinos who are essentially in the same market as online casinos to offer a greater variety, I would expect by now to see some Megaways slots for example.

I’ve searched online to answer this question but to no avail so thought best to ask it here. Are casinos just stuck with licences with particular slot vendors or are there legal reasons behind the lack of variety or something else?

Hello,

I would say that the answer is a combination of those two aspects:

" Are casinos just stuck with licences with particular slot vendors or are there legal reasons behind the lack of variety"

It goes hand in hand, I think. Simply put the UK market is so regulated and legal requirements are so complicated, that lot of game providers simply lost interest.

Anyway, feel free to browse Casino Guru News - focused on land-based gambling + UK:

Hope you like it 🙂

All UK casinos are limited to a certain amount of games. eg. Even though many of the machines have 25 games on offer per machine they may be limited to only 35 games in the casino so hence there being 20 actual machines all with the same games repeating and a few extra machines to cover another 10. It also depends on the floor space of the casino as well. Smaller casinos can only have 80 slot machines and larger casinos can have 150.

Hello,

I still think that it's about the market and its restrictions mostly. Anyway, thank you for your notes.

Do you visit land-based casinos very often?
