Every site on this page holds a licence from the UKGC, which is the baseline rather than the achievement.
What separates them is what sits on top of that licence. For instance, how deep the roulette lobby runs, whether the game counts towards bonus wagering at a usable rate. We also look at how the tables behave on a mobile device, and what the complaint record looks like.
Our Safety Index score reflects the last of those. It measures fairness of terms and how a casino handles player complaints, among other crucial factors. Game selection, bonus generosity, and payment options matter to players, so we cover them below, but they sit outside the score. Three sites stood out this month for different reasons.
Yeti Casino – best for big-name roulette studios
Yeti Casino's library runs past 3,000 titles from more than 30 developers, and the names doing the heavy lifting are ones roulette players will recognise. NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, Games Global (formerly Microgaming), Blueprint Gaming, and Red Tiger Gaming all feature. Variants cater to budget and high roller players alike, with 10p Roulette and 20p Roulette, Bonus Roulette, and Big 500x Roulette among the popular titles on offer.
Yeti's games library is well above the industry average of 1,000+ titles. It trails BOYLE Casino, where you'll find over 5,000 options, but is well ahead of Fun Casino, which has 1,500+.
The casino has a dedicated live casino section, powered by leading live dealer developers Evolution and Pragmatic Play. You'll find well over 100 titles, above the market average, although some competitors like PlayOJO offer as many as 450 live tables. Live roulette titles worthy of mention include Super Stake Roulette, Monopoly Roulette, World Cup Roulette, and Roulette Macao.
Of our top three picks, Yeti sits joint top for security with a Safety Index of 9.7 in the Very High band. This surpasses fellow roulette casinos, such as BOYLE with 9.0, and matches Fun Casino. A clean complaints record combined with mostly fair T&Cs feed into that score, which is worth knowing before you fund an account.
Standout features:
Thirty+ major studios – NetEnt, Pragmatic Play, and Games Global are all represented, which means a broad spread of both software-driven and live roulette tables within the 3,000+ portfolio.
Roulette titles that are easy to find – Clean menus and a search tool that works make finding a specific title straightforward, which is not true of every lobby.
Very High Safety Index – At 9.7 it is the joint-highest score of our top three roulette casinos, level with Fun Casino. It's built on a clean complaints record and strong reliability marks thanks to mostly fair T&Cs.
Strong live dealer section – Evolution and Pragmatic Play supply well over 100 tables, from standard single-zero wheels through to branded formats such as Monopoly Roulette and World Cup Roulette.
Areas for improvement:
Welcome offer terms are restrictive – The no deposit spins come with a £40 minimum withdrawal and a £100 cap on winnings. Not every UK offer caps cashout, so it limits what the bonus is realistically worth.
Nothing tailored to roulette – The promotions on offer lean towards slots, so roulette regulars get less out of them.
Expert tip:"Low minimums are what make Yeti worth a look for roulette. A table that takes 10p bets turns a £20 deposit into a couple of hundred spins instead of 20 at £1 per spin. That extra runway is what lets you learn a variant rather than rush it. Get comfortable at the bottom end, then only move up if it still fits the budget that you set before you started."
BOYLE Casino runs an 'Exclusive' tab holding more than 50 titles you won't find at another operator. This includes BOYLE Casino Roulette Live, which has a Return to Player (RTP) of 97.30% and BOYLE Casino Lounge Roulette Live (also at 97.30%).
The wider lobby passes 5,000 games, well clear of the 1,000-or-so that counts as average across UK sites. Its roulette range also includes tables such as London Roulette, streamed from the Hippodrome Casino in London's West End.
Navigation is better thought out than most. A 'Hot' tag surfaces what's trending, a heart icon saves favourites, and an 'i' button opens each game's key details, including its RTP percentage.
On safety, BOYLE is among the stronger performers we've reviewed, carrying a Very High Safety Index of 9.0, based largely on its excellent complaint handling, with three cases submitted but none upheld. Of course, this rating sits behind the likes of Yeti and Fun Casino, mainly due to its restrictive terms with two clauses we believe to be unfair to players.
The first clause lets BOYLE void winnings if you use betting patterns designed solely to meet wagering requirements with minimal risk. That wording is broad enough to apply directly to roulette, and it is easy to trigger without meaning to.
The second covers card counting, so it will not affect how you play roulette, but we still count it. Neither clause is unusual in the UK market, but both are worth weighing against how you like to play.
Sadly, the welcome offer is restricted to slots. However, Leaderboard Live – whereby live dealer players can win bonus funds and Golden Chips by playing selected live casino games, with just a 1x wagering requirement – has eligible live dealer roulette options.
Standout features:
More than 50 exclusive titles – Games unavailable elsewhere, which gives the lobby a genuinely different feel from its rivals.
Over 5,000 games – Comfortably above the UK average of around 1,000 and ahead of competitors Yeti (3,000+) and Fun Casino (1,500+), so there is depth in most categories.
RTP visible before you play – The 'i' button shows each game's RTP and mechanics without you having to open it first.
Tables streamed from London – London Roulette broadcasts from the Hippodrome Casino, bringing a real casino floor to your screen.
Areas for improvement:
No roulette-specific welcome offer – The welcome package isn't built around table games, so roulette players won't find anything aimed at them.
Two bonus clauses to weigh up – One voids winnings if you use betting patterns designed solely to meet wagering requirements with minimal risk, and the wording is broad. Check it against your usual habits first.
Expert tip:"The welcome package is built around slots, so the Leaderboard Live promotion is where roulette players will find the value at BOYLE. Its 1x wagering requirement is far lighter than most UK terms, and live tables qualify. Before you opt into anything, though, read the two clauses on bonus play. If you tend to move between games while clearing a bonus, that habit alone could cost you the winnings, and it's easier to adjust how you play than to argue it afterwards."
Fun Casino is our pick for anyone who plays roulette mostly on a phone. The full 1,500+ library runs on mobile with nothing held back for desktop, so you get the whole catalogue whether you're on the iOS app or in a browser.
Fun Casino holds a Very High Safety Index of 9.7, matching top-choice roulette casino Yeti and ahead of several rated UK rivals, including BOYLE, All British Casino (9.6), and Pub Casino (9.5). That reflects, among other factors, a reputation built since the site launched in 2017 and a player complaints ratio we rate as very good.
The operator has only one complaint unresolved, which is over £576 in confiscated winnings and is worth reading before you deposit. We assess its terms as mostly fair, which rounds out a reliable package.
Android players will need to stick to the browser site for now, since there's no dedicated app. The full library runs on it without trouble, so the practical difference is small.
Standout features:
Solid iOS app – A 4.3-star rating with the full catalogue inside it, which puts Fun Casino ahead of Yeti on 3.9 and within reach of Hollywoodbets on 4.6.
Strong live roulette table line-up on mobile – Instant Roulette and Gold Bar Roulette sit alongside standard single-zero wheels, and in our mobile testing, streams loaded quickly with no noticeable lag.
RTP shown per game – Each info panel carries the figure, which makes comparing tables quick.
Very High Safety Index – At 9.7, built on mostly fair T&Cs and a very good complaints ratio, with just one unresolved. We also weighed 35 complaints about related casinos.
Areas for improvement:
No Android app – Android players use the mobile browser instead. The library runs smoothly there, but you lose app-level conveniences.
Smallest library of our three picks – At 1,500+ games the catalogue trails BOYLE's 5,000+ and Yeti's 3,000+.
Expert tip:"Android players shouldn't be put off by the missing app. Open the site in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, and add it to your home screen. It launches like an app and you keep the full library either way. Whichever device you're on, use the 'i' panel to check a table's RTP before you sit down, because the same title can run at different percentages depending on the operator."
Roulette variants worth playing online
One wheel, several rulebooks. The online roulette version you pick changes the house edge, and at a UK online casino you'll usually have a choice. These are the variants you'll come across most often.
European roulette – the classic version
Thirty-seven pockets, numbered 0 to 36. A single zero keeps the house edge at 2.70%, and that makes it the default choice at most UK sites.
RTP: 97.30%
House edge: 2.70%
Best for: anyone wanting the standard game with the better odds
American roulette – double zero, double edge
An extra pocket marked 00 brings the total to 38 and almost doubles the house edge. The betting layout is slightly wider as a result, but the trade-off rarely favours the player.
RTP: 94.74%
House edge: 5.26%
Best for: players who want the extra double-zero bets and accept the cost
French roulette – where zero hurts less
Built on the European wheel, with an extra rule for even-money bets. Depending on the table, 'la partage' returns half your stake when the ball lands on zero, or 'en prison' holds the bet for the next spin. Either rule cuts the edge on even-money bets to 1.35%.
RTP: up to 98.65% with la partage in play
House edge: 1.35% on even-money bets
Best for: players who stick to even-money bets and want the lowest edge available
Multi-wheel roulette – one bet, many wheels
You place one bet and it runs across several wheels at once, sometimes as many as eight. The edge per wheel is unchanged, so this spreads your stake rather than improving your odds.
RTP: 97.30%
House edge: 2.70% per wheel
Best for: players who want more results per round
Mini roulette – fewer numbers, faster rounds
A stripped-back wheel with 13 numbers, 0 through 12. Rounds move faster, but fewer pockets mean a higher edge and a much shorter bet list.
RTP: 92.31% (96.15% on even-money bets at tables that return half your stake on zero)
House edge: 7.69% (3.85% on those even-money bets)
Best for: newcomers who want a simpler layout and can accept a higher edge
Lightning Roulette – the immersive game show option
Evolution's live game-show variant. Random numbers get struck with multipliers of up to 500x on each round, funded by a reduced base payout on straight-up bets.
RTP: 97.10%
House edge: 2.90%
Best for: players happy to trade steady payouts for occasional multipliers
RTP figures describe long-run averages across many thousands of spins, not what any single session will return. Operators also sometimes run different configurations of the same title, so check the figure in the game's info panel before you place a bet.

Live dealer roulette explained
What live roulette is and how it works
A live dealer game version of roulette puts a real wheel and a real croupier at the other end of a video feed. You place your chips through the interface, the dealer spins, and the result lands in front of you rather than in an animation. Most streams come out of purpose-built studios, and a few run from the floor of an actual casino.
Live dealer vs RNG roulette
The maths is broadly the same. The experience isn't. Software-driven tables use a certified Random Number Generator (RNG) to produce each outcome. This gets independently tested, and it lets you play at whatever speed suits you. Autoplay, faster spin settings, and turbo modes are all on the table.
Live games replace the algorithm with physics and a person. You give up the speed controls and the customisation, and you gain a table you can watch and a dealer you can type to. Rounds run on the croupier's clock, which is slower than clicking spin yourself.
Stakes differ, too. Software tables often start around 10p a spin, while live tables tend to open a little higher and stretch further at the top end, with dedicated high-stakes rooms running into the thousands.
The strengths and weaknesses of live roulette
What works well
What to bear in mind
A real wheel to watch – Outcomes come from a physical spin, which some players trust more than an invisible algorithm.
Slower rounds – The dealer sets the pace. If you're used to clicking through software spins, live play feels unhurried.
Studio-quality production – Multiple camera angles and HD streaming, with very little lag on a decent connection.
Tables fill up – Popular limits and language options can be full at peak times, and some rooms cap seats.
A wide stake range – You'll find low-limit and high-limit tables, so the format suits casual play and larger bankrolls.
Uses your data – An HD stream needs a stable connection and gets through more data than a software-driven game.
Chat with the table – Many tables let you talk to the dealer or other players, making for a more sociable, authentic session.
Fewer controls – No autoplay, no turbo, no custom bet-repeat settings on most tables.
The studios behind UK roulette games
The name on the table tells you a fair amount about how it will play. These are the software developers whose roulette games turn up most often at UK-licensed sites.
Evolution – The dominant force in live dealer gaming. Its roulette range runs from a standard table up to game-show formats such as XXXtreme Lightning Roulette and Red Door Roulette, both built around multipliers.
Inspired Gaming – A UK specialist, and the studio behind 20p Roulette, which has become one of the most-played tables in the country because inside bets start at 20p. Space Invaders Roulette comes from the same stable.
Playtech – More than 25 years of development behind it, with strong software-driven and live dealer ranges. It has a habit of spinning its slot brands into table games, and Mega Fire Blaze Roulette is the best example.
Pragmatic Play – Runs software-driven and live tables side by side. Its live range includes Mega Roulette and Fortune Roulette, while its standard and auto-play tables cover the same ground without a dealer.
Games Global (formerly Microgaming) – Brings its slot themes to the wheel in software-driven form. Immortal Romance Roulette and 9 Pots of Gold Roulette carry the characters and bonus mechanics of the originals across to a table format.
Top roulette bonuses you can claim
Here are some of the most common UK casino bonuses you can expect to find when playing roulette online:
Deposit match bonus – The casino adds a percentage of what you put in. A 100% match on a £20 deposit gives you £40 to play with. Under the current rules the wagering attached to that bonus cannot exceed 10x, though weighting requirements still apply and those do most of the damage to roulette players.
No deposit bonus – These arrive without you funding an account, which makes them the cheapest way to try a new site. You'll often find no deposit bonuses tend to carry the tightest strings: minimum withdrawal thresholds, caps on how much of your winnings you can actually take out, and short expiry windows. Read those before you opt in, because a £100 cashout cap changes what the offer is worth.
Cashback – A percentage of net losses returned, usually weekly or monthly. Live casino cashback deals are the ones roulette players should look for, since they're among the few promotions where table play counts at full value.
Expert insight: why game contribution matters for roulette
Tatjana Dahy
Content Editor
The 10x cap limits the headline number. It does not change how much your roulette bets count towards it.
Slots usually contribute 100% of each stake. Roulette rarely does. Most operators set it between 5% and 25%, and some leave it out of the calculation entirely. That single line in the terms shapes the real cost of a bonus far more than the match percentage does.
Try it with numbers. A £30 bonus at 10x needs £300 in qualifying bets. If roulette counts in full, £300 of spins clears it. At 20% contribution, you need £1,500 on the wheel to get there. At 5%, the figure is £6,000. The cap has not changed. Your side of the deal has.
So, the match percentage is the wrong place to start. Find the contribution table, check what the wheel is worth, and look at whether live and software-driven tables are listed on separate lines. Some operators treat them as different products. A small bonus where roulette counts fully will often leave you better off than a large one where it barely counts.
About Tatjana Dahy
How to play roulette online
Real money roulette looks more complicated than it is. Explained properly, it's actually one of the easiest online casino games to pick up. The wheel has a lot of numbers on it, but the game itself comes down to predicting where a ball will stop, and the rhythm is the same at every table.
The bets you can place
Bets split into two groups. Inside bets cover specific numbers and pay more but land less often. Outside bets cover large blocks and pay less but come in more frequently.
Inside bets:
Straight up – One chip on one number. Pays 35:1.
Split – A chip on the line between two numbers, covering both. Pays 17:1.
Street – Three numbers in a row, such as 1, 2, and 3. Pays 11:1.
Corner – Placed where four numbers meet, covering all of them. Pays 8:1.
Line – Two adjacent rows, six numbers in total. Pays 5:1.
Outside bets:
Red or black – Half the numbers are red and half are black. Pays 1:1.
Odd or even – Whether the winning number is odd or even. Pays 1:1.
High or low – Numbers 1 to 18 are low, 19 to 36 are high. Pays 1:1.
Dozen – One of three blocks of 12, so 1 to 12, 13 to 24, or 25 to 36. Pays 2:1.
Column – One of the three vertical columns on the layout, 12 numbers each. Pays 2:1.
Zero sits outside all the outside bets. On a single-zero wheel it lands roughly one spin in 37, and when it does, every red, black, odd, even, high, and low bet loses. This is unless you're at a French table with la partage or en prison active.
Playing a round of roulette: step by step
Pick your table. Check which variant you're loading. European and French wheels carry a lower house edge than American, and the difference is worth the extra few seconds.
Choose a chip value. Software tables often start around 10p. Live tables usually open a little higher.
Place your chips. Tap or click the part of the layout you want to cover. You can spread multiple bets across inside and outside areas in the same round, and most interfaces let you repeat your last set with one tap.
Let the round play out. Live tables run a countdown before betting closes, while software tables close as soon as you hit spin. The ball settles, the winning number is called, and payouts land in your balance automatically. There's nothing to claim.
Decide whether to go again. Each spin is independent of the last, which is worth remembering if a table is showing you 'hot' and 'cold' numbers. Those displays are decoration. The wheel has no memory.
Playing roulette on your phone
Most roulette play in the UK now happens on a mobile device, and the games have caught up. HTML5 means tables load in a mobile browser without a download, and the controls get rebuilt for a touchscreen rather than shrunk down from desktop.
The best UK mobile casinos also offer downloadable apps if you prefer the convenience. Here's how the two compare:
Mobile browser vs casino app
Casino app

Where an operator has no app, you can still get something close to one. On iOS, open the site in Safari, tap Share, and choose 'Add to Home Screen'. On Android, open it in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu, and pick 'Add to Home screen'. Either way you end up with an icon that launches straight into the lobby.
Expert tip: how to ensure a smooth mobile session
"Most mobile problems are to do with connection. Wi-Fi or 5G holds up where a patchy signal won't, and live tables are where you'll feel it, since a dropped feed leaves you waiting on a result you can't see. Keep the app and your operating system updated for performance and security, and keep an eye on your data, because HD streaming gets through far more of it than software-driven play."
Roulette checklist: what to consider before joining a table
Safety Index and complaints record
Fairness and safety come first. Our Safety Index is an independent score for how trustworthy a casino is. It looks at how fair the terms are, how the casino handles player complaints, its size, related casinos, and blacklists. We only recommend casinos with a Safety Index of at least 7.5.
Complaint records are the most useful signal, because a pattern is harder to dismiss than a single bad experience. Check how a casino responds when a player raises something, and whether the same issue keeps coming up unresolved. Repeated unresolved complaints in the same area are the clearest warning sign available to you.
Player feedback adds to the picture. It shows how support behaves when there's a problem, whether withdrawals go through cleanly, and whether bonus terms get applied the way they read. We only give a user feedback rating once a casino has at least five reviews.
Game variety and live tables
A strong roulette lobby is not just a long list. Look for a spread across both formats, because software-driven and live tables suit different sessions, and a site heavy on one is a poor fit if you prefer the other.
Check whether the operator carries the variants you want to play. European is near-universal. French, with its lower edge on even-money bets, is noticeably less common. Also check whether there's a way to filter for roulette specifically. Plenty of sites bury tables inside a general 'Table Games' or 'Live Casino' section with no subcategory, which makes browsing a 100-game catalogue tedious.
Casino bonuses that allow roulette
Roulette players get overlooked by promotions more often than any other group. Some welcome packages set table games at 0% contribution, which means the offer does nothing for you at all.
Before you opt in, find the contribution table in the terms and check what roulette counts for. Then check whether live and software-driven tables are weighted differently, because some operators separate them. Live casino cashback with low or no wagering is usually the most genuinely roulette-friendly promotion on offer.
Licensing and player protection
A UKGC licence is what makes a site legal to offer real-money play to anyone in Great Britain, and it brings obligations the operator cannot opt out of. Those include age and identity verification, deposit limit tools, participation in Gamstop, and a ban on credit card deposits that has been in force since April 2020.
It also gives you somewhere to go when things go wrong. Every licensed operator must offer access to an approved alternative dispute resolution service, with the Independent Betting Adjudication Service (IBAS) the best known. An unlicensed site offers nothing comparable.
Games get tested independently, too. Laboratories including eCOGRA, Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), and iTech Labs verify that RNG outcomes are properly random and that games return what their published RTP claims.
Licence details normally appear in the site footer, and the Gambling Commission's public register lets you confirm them yourself.
Payments and account security
UK-licensed casinos run on debit cards, e-wallets such as PayPal and Skrill, mobile wallets including Apple Pay and Google Pay, open banking transfers, and prepaid options like PaysafeCard. Credit cards are not available for gambling anywhere in Great Britain.
Two things are worth checking. First, whether your preferred casino payment method is excluded from the welcome offer, because e-wallets frequently are. Second, whether it supports withdrawals as well as deposits, since prepaid options generally don't.
On security, any legit UK-licensed site should offer encryption. What an e-wallet adds is distance: your bank details sit with PayPal or Skrill instead of with the casino, so the operator never holds them.
We don't publish site-wide payout speeds, and we'd treat any figure like that with caution wherever you see it. How quickly money reaches you depends on the method you chose, whether your identity checks are complete, and how much you're withdrawing. Saying that, you can check out our fastest withdrawal casinos guide to see which operators have the best track record of processing payments the most reliably.
Strategy and bankroll basics
Online roulette is fundamentally a game of chance, and no betting pattern changes the house edge. What you can control is how long your money lasts and how clear-headed you are while you play. Five things make the most difference.
Pick the right wheel – A European or French table carries a materially lower edge than an American one. Choosing the variant does more for your expected return than any system will, which makes it the single most useful decision available to you.
Start on outside bets – Red or black, odd or even, and high or low each cover close to half the wheel, so results come in often enough to keep a session going. The payouts are small and the edge is no different, but the swings are far gentler on a modest bankroll.
Set your figure before you start – Decide what you're prepared to spend, then split it into smaller stakes. A limit set in advance holds up better than any decision made mid-session. Chasing a loss is also the most expensive habit in the game.
Play for free first – A decent roulette lobby lets you try its tables in demo mode, with practice credits rather than your own money. That's worth having because the gap between reading how a bet works and placing it on a live layout is wider than it sounds. We also offer free roulette games right here.
Ignore the hot and cold numbers – Some tables display them. Treat them as scenery, because every spin is independent and the wheel carries no record of where the ball landed last.

You'll come across these strategies, and they're important to understand. The Martingale doubles your stake after every loss on the theory that one win recovers everything. It works until it doesn't, and a losing run escalates stakes faster than most bankrolls can absorb, usually hitting the table limit before it hits a win.
The Fibonacci moves more slowly, each stake equalling the sum of the two before it, which softens the curve without changing the odds. Both add structure to a session. Neither improves your chances, and I don't recommend relying on either.

Should you play roulette online?
In favour
Against
✅ Dozens of variants available whenever you want them, with no travel involved
❌ Variants carry different rules and different edges, and the differences take time to learn properly
✅ French rules such as la partage cut the edge on even-money bets to 1.35%.
❌ Live tables need a stable connection, and a dropout mid-round is genuinely disruptive
✅ Software-driven tables let you set your own pace rather than waiting on a croupier
❌ Social contact is limited to live tables, and even there it's typed
✅ Stakes run from around 10p to thousands, so the game scales to your budget
❌ Withdrawals take longer than collecting chips at a cashier's desk
✅ Free roulette games let you learn a variant before any money is involved
❌ Roulette often contributes poorly towards wagering, so promotions are worth less to you than to a slots player
Other casino games worth a look
If roulette isn't holding your attention, UK casinos run plenty of alternatives.
Slots – Online slots have the largest category at every site, with every theme and bonus mechanic going.
Blackjack – Also known as 21, real money blackjack is a game where your decisions can genuinely affect the outcome, unlike roulette.
Baccarat – Bet on the player hand, the banker hand, or a tie in James Bond's favourite game, real money baccarat. It's among the simplest games on the floor.
Video poker – Slot-style pacing with a layer of card strategy on top, so your decisions affect the return rather than just the speed in video poker.
Craps – A dice game with a busy betting layout that looks harder than it is. The main bets in real money craps carry some of the lowest edges, though the side bets around them are far less generous.
