Witch Heart Megaways review

Graphics, Sounds, and Animations

This enchanting game by Pragmatic Play is sure to cast a spell on you. It's equal parts spooky and magical, with a touch of fairytale whimsy.

The visuals include all the hallmarks of a witchy scene. From the misshapen house with bats flying from the roof to the gigantic full moon appearing in the background. There's even a graveyard and a creepy tree that seems to be lit from the inside.

The backing track is a bit mystical and intriguing, but still upbeat and fun. It fits in well with the quirky characters that star in the game, while still setting a bit of an ominous tone.

Gameplay

This game uses the Megaways mechanic, which you might have come across before—especially if you're a fan of Pragmatic Play slots. Every time you spin, the number of symbols appearing on the reels is different, and the top of the grid displays how many Megaways appear.

So, what does all of that mean for you as a player? Quite simply, you'll have up to 200,704 possible ways to win.

Reels one and six can hold up to seven symbols at a time, while the other reels can each have seven symbols plus an extra symbol displayed on a special reel at the top of the grid. Wins payout on adjacent reels from left to right, no matter the size of the symbols.

The witch symbol pays the most, followed by her companions, the owl and the cat. The potion bottle, bubbling cauldron, and number and letter symbols also pay out.

If you get lucky enough to land a winning combination, the Tumble feature will remove winning symbols from the grid, allowing new symbols to fall into their place.

Wilds, Bonuses, and Free Spins

Keep an eye out for the Witch Heart Wild symbol, which can substitute for any other other symbols, with the exception of the Scatter. Witch Heart symbols appear on reels 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Wilds participate in up to three Tumbles, and after the third, they'll explode and add between two and nine new Wilds to the grid.

The Bonus Symbol takes the form of a pink heart and can appear anywhere on the reels. Land 3, 4, 5, or 6 of them anywhere on the grid to open up the Free Spins round, which awards 10, 15, 20, or 30 spins, respectively. During Free Spins, the Multiplier increases by 1x with every Tumble. After three Tumbles that include a Wild, the Multiplier can increase randomly. It can go up by as much as 20x if three Wilds explode.

Bet Sizes, RTP, and Variance

When you play Witch Heart Megaways, you'll have a chance to win up to a maximum of 9,000x your stake. The minimum bet is relatively low at just $/€/£0.20 per spin, while the maximum is a high $/€/£240, or $/€/£360 when using the Ante Bet feature.

With high volatility, you can expect some pretty large wins even though they are quite spread out, and the Return to Player (RTP) percentage of 96.49% means that over a long period of time, the payout is a little higher than the industry average of 96%. We'd definitely recommend this slot, because the high RTP and volatility make for exciting gameplay and a good chance of winning.

Conclusion

If you're looking for something with a bit of a creepy vibe, but not too dark and scary, this slot is a good option. You can never go wrong with Megaways games, as they tend to be a lot more entertaining than standard video slots, where each spin can feel very similar. The Tumble feature adds an extra element of excitement to the base game, while Multipliers keep the Free Spins interesting.
