Mine Defender is a slot machine by ELK Studios. According to the number of players searching for it, Mine Defender is not a very popular slot. Still, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad, so give it a try and see for yourself, or browse popular casino games.
To play for free in demo mode, just load the game and press the 'Spin' button. You can learn more about slot machines and how they work in our online slots guide.
The best way we can describe the look of this game is similar to a retro-style arcade game. It's set deep inside a dark mine, and if you manage to uncover enough of the sparkling gems, you'll be a winner.
Just like in a video game, there's a Hero, and you'll need to help him defend himself for a chance to win.
The visuals are quite basic, with the symbols represented by colorful geometric shapes. When you spin, the symbols disappear and reappear on the reels with a simple animation. The soundtrack is an energetic, electronic drum and guitar beat. Think 80s electro-pop, and you'll have a good idea of what it sounds like.
Before we get into the complexities of the special features, let's talk a little bit about the base game. Mine Defender doesn't come with any paylines, and at least seven of the same symbols pay out, no matter where they are on the reels.
The symbols that pay the most are the clusters of white and red shards, while orange, yellow, and green gems pay out slightly less. The lowest-paying symbols are the blue, purple, and pink cubes.
Once wins are paid out, winning symbols are removed from the grid and new ones appear, so you get an extra chance to win.
There are a few different special features here, so the gameplay is anything but standard.
First, you can expect to see Enemy symbols on the bottom row of the game. Their objective is to attack you, the Hero. Depending on the type of Enemy, your Hero might lose between one and three lives. The special Life symbols give the Hero extra lives, and the Shot symbols increase his chances to defend himself.
Hero Mode is activated when Enemies enter the game. You'll need to shoot them to defend yourself and collect special features and winning symbols. Defeat at least 50 Enemies to trigger the Final Boss round. You'll battle the ultimate Enemy to collect coins and Multipliers.
When three or more of the Bonus symbols appear on the grid, you'll trigger the Mass Attack feature. The grid becomes circular, and the Hero appears right at the center. Enemies and symbols move in from all directions, and the Hero needs to defend himself.
You can set your stake in increments between $/€/£0.20 and $/€/£100 per spin, but our one criticism here is that there aren't too many bet options. As the maximum win amount is 10,000x, if you're betting for the highest amount, you can stand a chance to win up to $/€/£1,000,000.
Mine Defender has a Return to Player (RTP) percentage of 94%, which is quite a bit lower than we like to see. The volatility is medium, so you shouldn't expect huge wins, but they're relatively evenly spread. We usually recommend games with a much higher RTP and volatility. However, because the gameplay here is so interesting, it still gets our stamp of approval.
Whether or not you'll enjoy this game depends entirely on your personal preferences. If you want straightforward gameplay and a simple storyline, this one probably isn't for you. But if you're looking for a game that's a little more interactive than your standard slot (or if you're just a fan of video games), Mine Defender is worth a go.
