Wild Moon Thieves takes the thieves—a race of puffball spider creatures—out into the forest at night where they can spin their webs, hide from snow monsters, and rock out in the woods.
If all this sounds a bit surreal, that's because the world of Wild Moon Thieves is exactly that. The player just has to dive into the world, and try not to slip in the snow, or step on the moon thieves.
This slot's zany antics are fun and cartoonish with a real sense of joy in the world and storyline.
The visual style of Wild Moon Thieves is lively and fun despite its cold night time setting. The little snow monsters of the title spin their webs in fun little animations beside the reel, while on the reel the win and spin animations are crisp and clean.
The background moves gently as the eerily low moon pulls snow up from the forest floor and the wind moans gently in the background. The music kicks in when the reels are spun and the win and spin animations are punctuated by winter bells, giving the moonlight night a midwinter feel.
Overall, the visuals help to build the world of the thieves and draw the player into a chilled-out (if a little chilly) experience.
The base gameplay of Wild Moon Thieves takes place on a set of five reels. Each reel has four rows.
Wins are earned along a set of 25 win lines. These run from left to right and pay out for matching sets of symbols.
The maximum win on any given round is capped at 5,000x of the player's bet.
There are two bonus games in Wild Moon Thieves, a Free Spin Bonus (triggered by the Scatter symbol), and the Bonus Game (triggered by the Bonus symbol).
The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter and Bonus symbols.
The Free Spin Bonus triggers when three Scatters land on a single spin. The player is directed to a minigame in which they open a series of doors. The doors can be opened to reveal a number of Wilds until the player opens the door with Collect behind it.
TThe player gets three spins in which Wild symbols from the minigame are placed at random on the reels. The player can get up to 60 Wilds in the Free Spin bonus.
The Bonus Game is triggered by two Bonus symbols and plays out as a classic Coin Bonus game.
The player gets a new set of reels with Coin symbols (each with one value from a range), Collector symbols, Booster symbols, Cleaner symbols, and blank spaces. A counter is set to three and ticks down after each spin.
If the player lands a symbol anywhere on the reels, the counter resets to three, and the symbol is locked in place for the rest of the Bonus Game.
The Collector turns into a Coin symbol with a value equal to all the Coin symbols that have already landed. The Cleaner does the same but removes all the other Coin symbols. The Booster adds a random value to all Coin symbols.
At the end of the Bonus Game, the player receives the combined value of all the Coin symbols.
The return to player (RTP) of Wild Moon Thieves is one of its best features. The standard RTP is 97.0%. This comes in at around a full percentage point higher than our yardstick for average.
The range of bets on the site we tested ran from a minimum bet per spin of $/£/€0.25 up to a maximum of $/£/€50.00 per spin.
The medium volatility of Wild Moon Thieves is a bit of a letdown as we prefer high-volatility slots that work well with our preferred slot machine strategies.
Wild Moon Thieves is a great slot game with fun, exciting, and varied gameplay. It has a charming world with cute characters and an immersive soundtrack.
Above all the 97.00% RTP is very appealing.
Its only real let down is that we would prefer a higher volatility for slots strategies we recommend. If the medium volatility isn't a problem for you, this slot gets a strong recommendation from us.
