Mighty Munching Melons is a fruit machine slot in the most literal sense.
The whole slot is themed around the various fruits that appear in the greenhouse background as well as on the reels. And although melons are clearly the star of the show, plenty of other plants are present too! The reels are replete with lemons, grapes, and cherries too.
Mighty Munching Melons is a regular fruit salad of a slot! We expect this would appeal to players who enjoy a simple setting and gameplay that is coupled with bright colors, a light-hearted tone, and a PacMan-inspired bonus game.
Mighty Munching Melons uses fairly simple but well-drawn graphics. With four types of fruit represented along with the classic ace through jack symbols to round things out. The imagery is all well drawn and the animations, though simple, feel slick and smooth.
Mighty Munching Melons has a slot soundtrack that aims at a lo-fi beats kind of vibe. The music has a gentle, electronic tone that compliments the easygoing style of the slot.
Overall, the graphics, sound, and animations of Mighty Munching Melons make for a slot that has a bright and cheery atmosphere.
Mighty Munching Melons is played on five reels with three rows each.
Players win by landing a sequence of matching symbols on any of the 10 win lines. Winning sequences must start on reel one and must be on consecutive reels.
The maximum win on any given round is capped at 3,000x the player's bet.
There is no Wild symbol in this game.
When the player manages to land three or more Bonus symbols on one spin, a clever, PacMan-themed Bonus feature starts.
During the Bonus Feature, all symbols on the reels switch to either blanks, Melon symbols, Melon Ghost symbols, or Money symbols.
The player starts the Bonus Feature with three spins. Whenever a Money symbol lands, the number of spins resets to three. Each Money symbol has a random value from a set of values between 0.1x to 500x the player's bet. When a Money symbol lands during the bonus round, it stays in place until the end.
When a Melon symbol lands it stays on the reels, moves one space in a given direction after every spin. If it lands on a Money symbol it removes the symbol, freeing up the spot and adding the value of the Money symbol to the player's win.
This is a brilliant twist on a classic type of Bonus Feature.
The return to player of Mighty Munching Melons is 96.05%. This remains the case if you buy directly into the bonus or not. This is basically the same as our yardstick for average which is anything around 96%.
The range of bets on the site we tested ran from a minimum bet per spin of $/£/€0.20 up to a maximum of $/£/€240.00 per spin.
Mighty Munching Melons is a very high volatility slot, which would make it work pretty well with our preferred slot machine strategies. Unfortunately, the low RTP undoes any goodwill the high volatility has earned.
With an average RTP (96.05) and high volatility, this slot does alright when measured up against our slot strategies.
This is coupled with fun graphics, a relaxing soundtrack, and solid and interesting gameplay.
As a result, we can happily recommend picking this particular fruit-based slot.
