Are you ready to explore the mysterious jungles of South America? You might find a hidden tribe, an ancient temple, or maybe even a real money win.
Mayan Boost was made by Apricot, a Microgaming studio. The background is a luscious, green jungle, with a few subtle animations like ethereal floating lights. The game grid is a little smaller than we're used to seeing, but that just means you'll see more of the immersive background.
The soundtrack is a haunting melody, befitting of the creepy jungle scene. A rhythmic drum beat sets the scene, while the music takes on an electronic vibe when special symbols land.
Mayan Boost is a 5x3 slot, with a special extra reel at the top. This is the Feature Tab, which gives you the chance to win extra prizes.
The Mayan masks in colors like red, orange, and yellow are the high-value symbols, while you'll get smaller payouts for landing the various tropical fruits like pineapples and bananas. The game has 20 fixed paylines, and wins are paid when at least three matching symbols land on adjacent reels from left to right on one of the paylines.
The special features are what really set the Mayan Boost slot apart from other jungle-themed games. Each spot on the Feature Tab shows a different potential prize, such as Wild Multipliers of up to 10x or one of four jackpots. Land the special Upgrade symbols to upgrade the prizes, or the Trigger symbol (the Mayan pyramid) on the reel below the feature, to bag that prize.
The jackpot prizes increase with the Upgrade symbols, and to get the biggest payouts, you'll need to land the letter symbols which spell our MAJOR or GRAND. The Grand jackpot pays out the game's top prize of 7,500x.
Mayan Boost also has an exciting round of 10 free games, which triggers when you get three or more of the sun symbols. You'll need to spin the wheel to get one of the Free Spins rounds, which come with modifiers like extra Wilds or the potential to win jackpots.
First things first: Mayan Boost is a highly volatile slot game, so wins don't come around too often, but when they do, they're certainly worth the wait. The RTP is 96.24%, placing it a little above the slot game average of 96%.
Stake amounts range from $/€/£0.20 to $/€/£30, which is not particularly high, but with a max win of 7,500x, you can still expect a generous payout if you manage to get really lucky.
Even though a lot of slot games have unique themes, many of them still fall into the trap of similar gameplay. Mayan Boost is very different, thanks to the addition of the Feature Tab. Winning special features and jackpots is a central part of this slot and makes for fun and exciting play. We also can't fault the slot based on the high volatility and above-average RTP, so in our opinion, it's a great option.
