The slot by Red Tiger Gaming seems to have selected a few central themes. The main reels are inspired by game shows like Wheel of Fortune. The background setting evokes the Las Vegas Strip. And the iconography is a blend of one-armed bandit symbols like gold bells and starry card ranks, plus train tickets and the titular solid gold steam train.
While this makes for an unusual visual theme, they are all united in a vague sense of Americana.
It shouldn't work, but it kind of does.
The various themes are largely tied together by the art style. The color schemes evoke the airbrushed vibe of Miami as seen through Brian DePalma's lens in Scarface. The background is colored in sunset pinks with bright primary colors and gold on the reels.
The animations are fairly simple, with just enough movement to emphasize and clarify the important information, like which symbols won and how much they were worth.
The soundtrack is upbeat and leans into the game show side of the slot's theme. There is a strong sense that the composer knows his way around a 1990s TV jingle.
Overall, the visual elements are probably Jackpot Train's strongest features, with a lot of personality and detail without being busy.
Jackpot Train's slot gameplay is more prosaic. The base game is played on a set of five reels with three symbols per reel. The slot uses an any-way-wins system, so wins are generated by matching symbols anywhere on consecutive reels starting with reel one.
