At a visual level, Hot Hot Fruit is yet another take on the classic fruit machine, this time by Habanero. It does not extend this homage to its gameplay but the icons are an array of fruit, sevens, and bar symbols.
It is an easily recognised and read theme, one which most players will be familiar with if they have played a spread of slots in their time.
The graphics are functional and clear. The pseudo-neon colour scheme does not do any favours to the clashing colours of the symbols. However, the whole thing is well animated and would look pretty slick if it weren’t for the poor resolution which makes all the smaller text almost unreadable.
The music is an almost immediately annoying electro-jingle that should be shut down immediately for the sanity of the player. Muting the music also mutes the sound effects, which somewhat detracts from the experience, so you will need to make your own call on which version is more bearable.
Hot Hot Fruit is a typical five by three slot machine. It has fifteen win lines, of which you must play all fifteen every spin.
There are few other features, some basic bonuses (see below for details) and a randomised Hot Hot feature which can be triggered on any spin and results in all symbols counting as double symbols except the 7 symbol which counts as three symbols. As a result, you can win with up to 10 symbols (doubles on all five spots making up a win line).
The Wild symbol substitutes for any other symbol and does not pay out on its own.
Three or more Wild symbols on a win line going left to right or right to left trigger a Free Spin Bonus. You get six free spins for the Free Spin Bonus. This doubles to twelve spins if you hit a combination with Wilds going both right to left and left to right.
The return to player of this game is 96.84%. This is above our yardstick for the industry of about 96% and makes this game attractive.
The range of bet on the site we tested ran the gamut from $/£/€0.15 per spin up to a maximum of $/£/€300.00 per spin.
The volatility of this game is high, which makes it a good candidate for our preferred slot strategies. Coupled with the high return to player, these statistics make this game look pretty tasty to us.
With a return to player of 96.84% and very high volatility, this game does not need to do much else to get our recommendation. This is just as well since the gameplay is rather bland if solid, and the visual design leaves much to be desired.
Overall, we still recommend it.
