Graphics, Sounds, and Animations

If you've exhausted all of the usual slot game themes, like Ancient Egypt and Mythical Gods, you might just be ready to try something brand new: Cereal Killers.

This Light & Wonder slot is set in a horrifying kitchen, where blood drips down the side of the game grid, and the background features everything from cunning rats to sharp knives. Front and centre are the three killer characters, who look a little like the mascots from popular brands of breakfast cereal.

Gameplay

Cereal Killers is played on a very simple game grid with five reels and three rows. To trigger a win, you need to line up matching symbols on adjacent reels from left to right. The game has up to 15,120 ways to win, as symbols can split (we'll tell you more about that later).

The Cereal Killers symbol pays out the most, followed by other breakfast-themed icons like bacon, an egg, and a cup of coffee. There are also smaller payouts in store if you land the A, K, Q, J, or 10 symbols.

Wilds, Bonuses, and Free Spins

The game comes with four jackpot prizes, ranging from the Mini, which pays out 10x your stake, all the way up to the Grand, which pays out 1,250x. When you land Jackpot symbols on the reels, they'll be added to the Cereal Bowl, which can randomly trigger the Jackpot Picker round. You'll have a chance to select virtual doors to reveal a jackpot prize.

Match three Golden Spoons in the Jackpot Picker round to pick a modifier, for example, a Multiplier, which can be applied to any jackpot prize.

Any Wild symbol that lands on the grid can activate the cereal killer character above that reel, which will then drop down and split symbols to create more ways to win.

Landing three, four, or five Bonus symbols gets you 9, 10, or 12 Free Spins respectively. During Free Spins, any Wilds that land will trigger the cereal killer, and Wilds lock in place for the rest of the Free Spins round. On each spin, random symbols will be selected to split.

Bet Sizes, RTP, and Variance

Cereal Killers has a Return to Player (RTP) percentage of 96.10%, which is above the industry average that we look for (96%). Cereal Killers is a highly volatile game, meaning that wins tend to be a little bigger (but less frequent) than you might expect and gameplay is exciting.

Cereal Killers has a minimum spin value of $/€/£0.10, but the maximum is just $/€/£10, which is lower than what you might have seen before. The max win of 5,600x isn't particularly noteworthy, even if you're playing for the maximum stake amount.

Conclusion

This theme certainly won't be for everyone, but in our opinion, Cereal Killers does a pretty good job of fusing the terrifying and the mundane. Aside from the totally unique theme, the fixed jackpots, Free Spins round, and cereal killer characters are all great special features, which can really help to enhance your chances of winning. If you're into creepy slots with decent winning potential, we can definitely recommend this game.
