Merkur Gaming has stepped into the exciting world of Ancient Egypt, with its slot Lucky Pharaoh.
This simple Egyptian-themed game draws parallels with classic fruit slots, as players spin the reels containing diamonds and other jewels.
There is a more natural, earthly feel to this slot, and this is evident when players jump into the base game.
Loading up the slot is dark and neutral in tone, and the graphics aren't over the top.
This is what we have come to expect from Merkur Gaming. The symbols are placed against a wooden set of reels, with hieroglyphics in the background.
Along with a plain gaming screen, the music has a light jingle that immediately stops between spins.
Although there aren't many sound effects, the visuals and music may suit players who prefer substance over style.
Set on a 5x3 gaming grid, Lucky Pharaoh comes with 10 fixed paylines and there is nothing too complicated about it.
Wins are accrued by landing at least 3 matching symbols. There are only 9 symbols, and no Wilds to provide extra assistance.
The diamond is the top-paying symbol, as a 5-of-a-kind win will give players a return worth 50x their stake.
Even the lower-paying royals aren't bad with payouts, with 5 Kings or Aces returning wins worth 20x your stake.
The maximum win available for this game is 50,000x your stake, which will appeal to players.
As mentioned, there are no Wilds in Lucky Pharaoh, and there are no progressive jackpots.
However, the Power Spins Feature comes into play when you provide a winning combination that is equivalent to 4x your stake.
You will be allowed to buy Power Spins. Here, a new screen will pop up where you can choose to collect what you have won and head back to the base game, or purchase Power Spins and move forward.
Each Power Spin will cost you 4x your stake, and you can reduce the number of spins by increasing the multiplier boost. Any winnings will be boosted, but you will be in control.
During the bonus round, a Mystery Symbol can also show up. If it lands in stacks across the reels, this can transform other symbols into winning lines.
Lucky Pharaoh comes with a Return to Player (RTP) of 96.25%, which is above the industry's average of 96%.
The range of bets available starts from a minimum of $/£/€0.20 per spin, running up to a maximum of $/£/€100 per spin, which seems reasonable.
The high volatility of Lucky Pharaoh makes it a good match for our slot strategies. Our ideal slot strategies target a mix of high volatility and RTP, and Lucky Pharaoh hits the mark.
While Lucky Pharaoh keeps things simple on the visuals front, it should be cherished for its uncomplicated gameplay.
The Ancient Egyptian theme is clear, and the Power Spins feature is a cornerstone of this game. Merkur Gaming has done a lot to enrich things and nothing is too elaborate.
A high RTP and solid maximum win cap will keep players entertained throughout this slot.
