A little warning here for the CG Community: Casino Guru is an open platform where everyone is free to share their thoughts and opinions. We believe in free speech and try to be as non-restrictive as possible. That said, please remember: just because something is posted on the forum doesn’t mean Casino Guru agrees with it or endorses it in any way. We’re really happy to see players engaging in conversations, debating respectfully, and having fun doing so! That’s why we created this platform. However, we’ve noticed a growing trend – not just here, but across other platforms too – where some players, after losing money fairly in a casino, look for ways to get those funds back through their bank or payment provider, often by filing chargebacks or making false claims. We’d like to warn you: this behaviour is not only unfair – it’s also very risky! We’ve already seen and heard stories (here and elsewhere) of people who got into serious trouble trying to go down this route – including closed casino accounts across multiple platforms, closed bank accounts, debts, and even lawsuits (attempted fraud). Attempting fraud or misrepresenting the truth to a bank or provider is never a good idea and could have lasting consequences. So here’s our friendly appeal to all Casino Guru community members: Stand up against unfair and dishonest casinos. Use our Complaints Resolution Center if you need help – you don’t have to fight alone. But please don’t try to get back money you’ve fairly lost. It’s simply not worth the risk. Thanks for being part of our community – and have a great day!

Okay so I had a merchant reply to me but the response wasn’t from their account. It was from a payment solutions company who seemed to pick up a merchants emails (doesn’t ask me how or why).

they pretty much seemed to be on the verge of giving me a refund until I mentioned multiple other merchants and asked if they had any association and could help. From that moment on they are now seeming aggressive, not wanting to refund me, deny any association with said merchants, and now claim they have no direct association with the original merchant I emailed despite them answering their emails for them 🤣

Anyone had success against Estolio, MTech or 20bet? Thanks

They will lose the dispute anyway 🤣 it was worth a shot at going for the full thing. Anyways, I’ve dug deeper and hit them with a very interesting email about their operations. I will be surprised to see what they say now.

Has anyone had this response from starling….

Thank you for submitting your dispute to us. My name is Augustine and I work in the Card Disputes Team at Starling.

The correct use of the MCC (Merchant Category Code) does helps Mastercard and other financial institutions classify transactions for reporting and monitoring purposes. However, MCCs are not always perfectly accurate because they rely on the merchant's self-reporting or the classification system used by their payment processor, which can sometimes lead to inconsistencies or errors in categorisation.

Unfortunately, there is no avenue provided by Mastercard to dispute the transactions based on the incorrect MCC.

Depositing funds into a merchant's gambling account does not guarantee a return on your investment, and as a result, Mastercard does not have any avenues for recovering these funds.

Any further use or non-use of the initial deposits is outside the scope of our dispute resolution process.

——————

If you do have further concerns, then we would suggest contacting the Gambling Commission regarding this merchant, you can get in touch with them here:

https://www.gamblingcommission.gov.uk/contact-us

Additionally, we strongly advise caution when using online casinos, especially unlicensed or unregulated platforms. These sites may not provide consumer protection, and funds lost through gambling are generally non-refundable.

To safeguard your account, we recommend:

- Only using licensed and reputable gambling platforms.

- Keeping your account details secure to prevent un authorised transactions.

- Reviewing the terms and conditions of gambling sites before depositing funds."

——————

Taking everything into account, I have to set aside my natural feelings of empathy and look at this case impartially and fairly based on the evidence and Mastercard rules and regulations.

With that being considered I hope it offers insight in to our decision.

We appreciate that this is not the answer you were hoping for, but I hope this clarifies the bank’s position.

Result. Glad you have been refunded by them. I have had to raise mine with RBS again as they originally said no as it was gambling however I found their digital games site gainkit which has all their info on and surprisingly they don’t answer support etc so they are looking at raising it again. What info did you end up sending them to get it refunded?

I got an error when sending, please enter the correct email address.

Finally - something of substance. Mastercard have quoted these terms from their own rules.
