I recently had a terrible experience with BetOnRed Casino, and I feel obligated to warn others about their questionable practices. This platform operates with a shocking lack of transparency and responsibility, and my experience left me deeply frustrated.

First and foremost, BetOnRed Casino uses incorrect Merchant Category Codes (MCC) for deposits. This shady tactic not only raises red flags for financial institutions but also feels downright deceptive. Players deserve clarity when it comes to their financial transactions, but BetOnRed seems to prioritize their own interests over honesty and fair play.

Another major issue is that BetOnRed Casino allows players from restricted countries to sign up, deposit, and play without any proper verification. Despite gambling being legal in my country—and our national policies providing a robust self-exclusion system—BetOnRed did absolutely nothing to check if I was from an eligible country. Hello, the casino I had issues on this complaint is BetOnRed, and no I haven't requested any form of self-exclusion on this platform. I am enrolled in a self-exclusion program in my country and I am suffering from gambling addiction, a diagnostic set by a psychiatric doctor from Romania.

My biggest concern however is not the fact that they did not comply with Romanian legislation about self-exclusion from gambling, it is how they processed payments. They used incorrect/disguised MCC to process deposits on their platform, thus violating several financial laws. I also had a gambling block active on my card, but because they used incorrect MCC, they were able to bypass this restriction thus allowing me to deposit and play even though I did not want to gamble anymore.

If your account is still open, I would recommend you request a self-exclusion due to gambling problems, otherwise, the casino won't protect you from further play. We don't consider the protection you are describing as mandatory, nor can ask for a refund based on this reasoning. While I fully understand and appreciate the importance of self-exclusion as a responsible gambling measure and have already taken steps to close my account due to self-awareness of my gambling problems, my concern is more about the broader issue. Even if a player is auto-excluded in Romania or any other country with similar self-restrictions or gambling blocks, this method of processing payments allows deposits to go through, thus bypassing the player’s efforts to protect themselves.

By not respecting international MCC standards, it seems that the casino is allowing players to continue gambling despite having self-imposed restrictions or external gambling blocks in place, which I find troubling. This undermines the effectiveness of self-exclusion measures and makes it harder for individuals to maintain control over their gambling habits.

I hope this issue will be addressed in order to uphold a responsible and fair gambling environment.


P.S: It's been more than a week already and I have not seen any response from their support team.

Unfortunately, we don't consider the protection you are describing to be mandatory in online casinos. We believe that if you are suffering from gambling issues, you need to request a self-exclusion due to gambling problems in the casino, otherwise, you might not be protected. Permanent self-exclusion in the casino due to gambling problems is a tool that should be mandatory in our view.

Since you confirmed you already are self-excluded in the casino, there is no further action we can take and the complaint will be closed. We believe you are only eligible for a refund if the self-exclusion due to gambling problems fails, which doesn't seem to be the case based on the provided line of argumentation and provided information.
