The Coin Volcano is about to erupt and it might just bring fiery wins. Coin Volcano is a simple, three-reel slot by 3 Oaks Gaming, with Sticky Coins, a bonus game, and four fixed jackpot prizes.
If you're expecting a modern video slot, you might want to lower your expectations. Coin Volcano looks more like a retro slot game, with a plain purple background and only one animated feature: the volcano graphic on the left of the screen. But this isn't a big issue, because all of the action happens on the 3x3 grid.
The main game doesn't have any regular symbols, just the special gold coins. Symbols only pay out during the Bonus Game and Ultra Bonus Game, which can be activated by landing three symbols on the middle row. This mechanism is certainly unique, but it's a bit of a letdown that there's no way to win without activating the bonus.
As we mentioned, to start triggering wins, you need to land three symbols on the middle row, to open up the Bonus Game or the Ultra Bonus Game. During the special round, you'll get three Respins, which are reset every time another Bonus symbol lands.
During both the Bonus Game and Ultra Bonus Game, the Jackpot symbols can land. If you fill up the entire grid with nine symbols, you'll bag the biggest prize: the Grand Jackpot, which pays 500x.
The Sticky Coin symbol can appear at any time during the base game, and it will stick in place until the Bonus Game or Ultra Bonus Game is triggered. The Sticky Coins award you with prizes ranging from 5x to 9x your stake. You'll also want to look out for the Mystery symbols, which are burning balls of fire. They can randomly transform into any symbol except Sticky Coins.
The Coin Collect symbols gather all the coins and jackpots from the grid, and after collection, the symbol sticks until the end of the Bonus Game. During the Bonus Game, Volcano Multipliers can be randomly added to the grid, increasing the Multiplier for that spot. Volcano Multipliers are guaranteed during the Ultra Bonus Game.
Coin Volcano has a minimum stake of just $/€/£0.10, which is lower than a lot of other slots, which tend to set the minimum around $/€/£0.20. The max spin value for Coin Volcano is $/€/£50 per go. The game comes with a top fixed jackpot of 500x, and the overall max win is set at 2,551x.
The game has a Return to Player (RTP) of 95.66%, which is a bit below the slot game average of 96%. Coin Volcano's volatility is rated as medium, so there's a good balance between larger and smaller wins, although gameplay isn't quite as exciting as in a high volatility game.
Coin Volcano is quite unique in that it doesn't pay out like other slots. This is a bit of a double-edged sword: it can make for exciting gameplay as you never know when you'll get into the Bonus Game, but things can feel a bit slow or disheartening if you don't activate the special round for a while. Neither the 95.66% RTP nor the medium volatility makes the game stand out, and although the fixed jackpots are interesting, we wouldn't recommend it overall.
