Samurai code delivers some fun action and a solid math model, but it is destined to get lost in Pragmatic Play’s ever-growing list of Big Bass Bonanza clones.
Read full reviewSamurai Code is a samurai-themed slot designed and developed by Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom. The game centers on two mysterious Samurais—a male and a female.
Pragmatic Play has kept things basic with the Samurai Code slot design. The reels are situated inside a Samurai dojo, with a sword and a handful of other weapons propped around the outside of the reels.
Being a Pragmatic Play slot, the graphics are solid enough, but there is a real lack of creativity here with the theme. The symbols include the Samurai characters, as well as some fish, a dragonfly, two clashing swords, and some stylized 10-A symbols.
Samurai Code takes place on a 5x4 grid with 12 fixed paylines on each spin. Wins are secured when you land three or more symbols across a payline, starting on the lefthand side of the reels.
The control panel is located under the reels, with the +/—buttons on either side of the spin button. This simple setup makes a smooth transition to mobile gameplay devices.
The Reel Kingdom and Pragmatic Play have stuck with the kind of gameplay bonuses that have made the Big Bass Bonanza slot series such a success.
A fish symbol in the game is the Money symbol. This can land and display values of either x2, x5, x10, x15, x20, x25, x50, or x4,000 your stake.
Landing three or more Scatters triggers the Samurai Code Free Spins round. Three, four, or five Scatters trigger 10, 15, or 20 spins, respectively. During the round, if the Money Symbols land with the Wild Symbol, they are collected and paid out.
Every fourth Wild that lands will retrigger an additional 10 spins. During the base game, if you land two Scatters, there is a chance that a Sword will appear and bring a third Scatter onto the grid.
At the end of a spin, one or two Swords can randomly appear, pulling the reels up to reveal a Wild and Money symbol.
Samurai Code sticks to a math model we have seen before in Pragmatic Play slots. The game has an RTP of 96.08%, which is around average according to our slot strategy guide. The developer has given the slot a 5/5 for volatility, and it has a modest maximum win of 4,000x their stake.
Samurai Code is another Big Bass Bonanza-inspired slot game from Pragmatic Play and Reel Kingdom. Unfortunately, while it is far from a bad game, it does little to distinguish itself from the long line of other collection-style slots that the developers have created.
