I’m surprised with the negative reviews because my experience with Reef Spins has been quite the opposite.
I’ve been an active player for around 12 months. I would not be considered a high value depositor yet have still been thanked personally by name in their Reef Spins birthday videos and received personal gifts.
They regularly run competitions with very generous gifts with not much monetary input required to play.
Their loyalty scheme is what I would consider basic - you are placed on a certain level depending on your deposits and play history. You earn Reef points which can been redeemed for cash, free spins or bonus rounds. It can take a while to earn enough points. After 12 months I am still only on their lowest level, so I have no prospect of ever progressing past where I am. However, as long as I am still playing I can still accumulate points and therefore claim free bonuses.
I do find their tournaments unfair as I regularly see the same names getting the top prizes over and over again. Unless you are a high depositor you have no chance of winning.
I love their game selection and they are the only casino I’ve come across where I can win big while doing a 20cent bet. I go through lulls where I don’t seem to win anything at all for a while and then I keep winning continuously, but this seems to happen with casino’s generally and I don’t thin is a reflection of them specifically.
Their withdrawals are the fastest I’ve seen, with the money often hitting my account within about an hour. Currently they are having some withdrawal issues with a delay of around 24 hours but they have been transparent about this.
Overall, Reef Spins is one of my favourite casinos.

My experience with ReefSpins over the past few weeks. Australian players should read this before deciding how much money they want to put through this site.

This is not simply a case of someone losing gambling and wanting their money back.

I accept responsibility for the bets I placed and the money I genuinely lost. I am not asking ReefSpins to refund bets I willingly made. My issue is what happened when I had substantial cash sitting in my account, tried to withdraw it and discovered how restrictive my rolling withdrawal allowance actually was.

I have played with ReefSpins for almost 3 years. August alone involved more than $16,000 AUD in deposits. ReefSpins later provided figures showing around $16,330 in deposits, $15,000 in withdrawals and $1,165 in bonuses for August.

At the time I was a Snapper VIP. My withdrawal allowance was $15,000 on a rolling 30 day basis with a $5,000 24 hour limit.

I reached a point where I had more than $6,000 in cash sitting in my account but much of my withdrawal allowance had already been used by previous withdrawals. I could not simply withdraw my balance. I was eventually given a schedule showing portions of my allowance becoming available over the following weeks. Some amounts were only $400 while others were $3,000, $500, $1,000 and $2,400.

So yes, the money was technically in my account. But I could not actually access it within a reasonable timeframe.

In hindsight I should have understood the rolling limit better. I accept that. But there is a huge difference between acknowledging that and saying I was simply an idiot who lost his money and is now blaming the casino.

I was actively trying to understand how I could withdraw my cash. I was not knowingly deciding to gamble away money that I could freely withdraw. I was dealing with a withdrawal system I did not properly understand until I was already in that position.

I later reached an even larger cash balance of around $11,000 which again was not realistically withdrawable under my available allowance at the time. That was ultimately played through as well.

But I also believe I lost the opportunity to withdraw money that was sitting there as cash because of the way the withdrawal system operated and the lack of clarity around it.

Over roughly the last couple of weeks I ended up around $17,000 AUD down.

I repeatedly contacted ReefSpins support trying to get meaningful answers. I was told a VIP host would contact me and was even told it would happen the following morning. That follow up never happened.

I kept explaining that my complaint was not simply give me my money back. I wanted an explanation as to why I should continue playing on a platform where I could have thousands of dollars sitting in cash but could not reasonably withdraw it and why I should be expected to take further gambling risk simply to access money that was already there.

I did not feel I received a meaningful answer and the matter was eventually closed.

After everything that happened I asked ReefSpins for a bonus considering my history, VIP status, deposits and losses. I was offered a $55 cash bonus and later a $40 cash bonus.

They do not owe me a bonus. But after almost 3 years of playing and substantial deposits, being around $17,000 down in a couple of weeks and explaining how badly I felt the situation had been handled, a $40 or $55 bonus felt like a kick in the guts rather than any meaningful attempt to retain a long term customer.

To be fair ReefSpins is not all bad. I have had good experiences with their games, website and deposits and I have successfully received withdrawals. A recent $2,000 withdrawal was ultimately paid as was another $1,505 withdrawal. I am not claiming they are a scam or that they simply refuse to pay customers.

My complaint is much more specific. It is the way the withdrawal limits, VIP system and customer support interact when a player has a substantial cash balance.

If a player can have thousands of dollars sitting in cash but only a fraction actually available to withdraw because of a rolling allowance, I believe that needs to be made extremely clear before they reach that position.

Australian players should understand exactly how their withdrawal allowance works before putting serious money through ReefSpins. Find out whether it is daily, 24 hour, monthly or rolling, how previous withdrawals affect it and what happens if your cash balance becomes significantly higher than your available withdrawal allowance.

I expected transparency, proper VIP support, meaningful communication and accountability when I raised a serious issue.

Instead after almost 3 years of loyalty and substantial deposits I was left feeling like a high value customer who was on his own when things went wrong.

Three years of loyalty should not end with a $40 bonus and a closed support conversation.

I emailed Reefspins a self exclusion request (permanent) stating I am suffering from gambling addiction. In no way, shape or form could it be considered up for debate, and yet they respond with:

"Have you considered taking a break or a deposit limit? We can put a temporary restriction on your account for either 42 or 84 days. Just a heads up, once it’s set, it can’t be lifted early. Want me to go ahead and set that up for you?"

This is not how a responsible casino should behave. When somebody states they would like to permanently self exclude because they are suffering from gambling addiction, than that is exactly what the casino needs to do, without question.

Unfortunately this means I've had to edit my 5 star review to 1 star, because I find this tactic of haggling over the terms of a self exclusion request for gambling addiction predatory.

Do better Reef Spins.
