Theme and Storyline

When Playson opted to theme their slot around the Mighty Africa title, they appeared to have forgotten that they were naming the slot after a vast continent that spans five climate zones and four time zones. So they have gone with the generic safari themed slot with animals for symbols and savanna for setting.

Which is not to say that unimaginative slots like this are a terrible thing when done well, but Mighty Africa has a number of problems with its underlying gameplay that make the banal theme more noticeable.

Graphics, Sounds and Animations

The graphics are not one of Mighty Africa’s weak spots though. The symbols are lovely portraits of some of the most interesting wildlife the Serengetti holds and the background is a clear blue sky above grass.

The soundtrack is rather plain and the audio for the reels and win animations is rather bland.

The game is visually very well put together but lacks much in the way of distinguishing character.

Gameplay

Mighty Africa is an any way wins slot, played on four rows and six reels. Any way wins slots do not have win lines per se, instead you win by landing symbols on consecutive reels starting from the leftmost. This ends up resulting in a total of 4,096 win ways.

The rest of the gameplay is similarly plain, with little more than free spins as a bonus and no gamble feature to break up the monotony.

Wilds, Bonuses and Free Spins

The Wild symbol substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter symbol.

Hitting three or more Scatters triggers the free spin game. The number of Free Spins depends on the number of Scatters. 8 free spins for three Scatters, and 15, 25, or 50 for four, five or six Scatters respectively.

If a Wild lands on a reel during the Free Spins, it can trigger the Split Wild feature where the Wilds split up into two or three Wilds, increasing the number of possible win ways.

Free spins can be retriggered by two or more Scatters. You get 5 more spins for two Scatters or the same number of spins as would be awarded in the base game for three to six Scatters.
