The Aztec theme is out in full force in the enterprising slot MexoMax 2.
Created by Yggdrasil Gaming, this game invites players to wade through the jungle. Forgotten ruins hide priceless riches, but the journey is worth it!
Yggdrasil Gaming is accustomed to Aztec slots, and MexoMax 2 is another welcome addition.
MexoMax 2 has an ominous soundtrack that captures the essence of this game well.
Traditional panpipes can be heard, and the rhythmic drum beats help enhance the atmosphere of the title.
In the foreground, bright-colored masks feature on the carved stones, tinged with gold on the outside.
The reels are set against the backdrop of a jungle, where trees and plants flank the night sky.
All in all, the soundtrack and graphics sync up nicely in this game.
MexoMax 2 is played on a 6ₓ6 grid, and it uses a Cluster Pays mechanic.
Players can accrue wins by matching clusters of symbols across the reels.
The highest-paying regular symbol is the red mask, where collecting 14+ symbols returns a win worth 6.5ₓ your wager.
MexoMax 2 has an Avalanche Feature. Every time a winning cluster appears, the symbols in that cluster are removed. New symbols slide onto the grid, which can create additional clusters within the same spin. This process continues until no new wins occur.
Reel Multipliers are also imbued in this slot. Each of the 6 reels has its own multiplier. Whenever a Wild appears on the reel, its multiplier value increases. Multipliers don't reset during the bonus round.
There are also a few Wild variations in MexoMax 2, as highlighted below:
Free Spins are activated when players land at least 3 Scatters in the base game, awarding 7, 9, or 11 free spins respectively. During the Free Spins round, reel multipliers become sticky.
MexoMax 2 provides a maximum win worth 10,000ₓ your wager.
This title has a Return to Player (RTP) of 94%, which is below the industry average. A lower RTP means that, on average, players receive less money back over a longer period of time.
The range of bets tested for this site runs from a minimum of $/£/€0.10 per spin up to a maximum of $/£/€50 per spin.
Despite that, MexoMax2 is highly volatile. This ties in nicely with our preferred slot machine strategies, as high volatility games can deliver big wins, albeit less frequently.
We do not recommend playing this Aztec-themed, low-RTP, highly volatile slot.
Although the gameplay in MexoMax 2 is simple, and the graphics are mesmerizing, the RTP is on the low side (94%), which makes the slot less appealing.
That said, the Avalanche Feature and other bonus rounds offer plenty of excitement, and players who like Yggdrasil Gaming's Mayan Temple Riches or Aztec GigaBlox, may still find MexoMax 2 worth trying.
