Theme and story line might be a strong overstatement for Magic Stars 5. The visuals for this game are a background of Milky Way style star fields and the symbols for the game are all star-like, shiny, geometric patterns.
It is more or less another take on the Bejewelled theme from the early days of online gambling.
Basic though the theme may be, it is presented very pleasantly, the "stars" that make up the symbols are pretty, and the software is put together in such a way as to make for a nice show when the animations kick in.
The music has a kind of synthed out spacey-ness which works with the theme, though beyond that little has been done to distinguish the slot machine from other similar Wazdan products.
Magic Stars 5 is a five reel slot machine. It has three rows and twenty win lines paying left to right.
Beyond that it is rather spartan in its features. There is a double or nothing gamble feature which allows volatility hounds to double their wins up to seven times in a row.
There are no bonus features or free spins.
There is no Wild symbol. Scatters pay out if you hit three or more anywhere on the reels.
The return to player on this game is a respectable 96.42% and, in a move that is almost wholly unique to the Wazdan game builds, Magic Stars 5 has a feature whereby you can set the volatility yourself. You can set it to high, medium or low.
The bet sizes for the site we tested were between £/$/€0.20 at rock bottom up to £/$/€100.00 at the very highest.
Somewhat stripped back with no bonuses or free spins, Magic Stars 5 is a game for those who like their slots as pure as possible.
The option to set high volatility (and to increase the volatility further using the gamble feature) appeals to us, as does the reasonable RTP.
Overall we would recommend this game, but only to a certain type of player. You have to really hate variety.
