He might be a crustacean, but he’s certainly not shellfish… the Loot Crab himself might just help you reel in some wins when you play this Iron Dog Studio slot game.
If you’re a fan of fishing-themed games, the layout and design here might seem a little familiar. The grid appears under the water, with bubbles and seaweed in the background, while a few little fishing boats/ float on the surface. The soundtrack is dreamy and relaxing, and there’s a cool bubble sound effect when the symbols land on the reels.
The Loot Crab game grid is made up of six reels and four rows, with a maximum of 4,096 ways to win.
The shark symbol pays out the most, but don’t worry - he’s cute rather than scary. There’s also a treasure chest, a lobster trap, an anchor, and an old boot amongst the high-paying symbols.
Loot Crab comes with a few different special extras, like Wilds, Scatters, and a Bonus Collect feature.
The Wild symbol is a red and white lifebuoy, and it can appear anywhere on the grid, substituting for all non-special symbols.
The special Cash symbols can land during both the base game and the bonus feature, and each one holds a Multiplier of between 0.5x and 2,500x. If the Cash symbol appears with a colorful lifebuoy, it will carry a jackpot prize of up to 2,500x your stake. To add the Cash symbols to your balance, you’ll need to get a Collector symbol (the boat) on the first or last reel.
If you land three or more of the fisherman Scatter symbols, you’ll open up the Bonus Collect feature, which is essentially a Respins round. The amount of spins you get depends on the number of Scatters. For example, three Scatters award two Respins, while six Scatters get you eight. During the special round, only Cash symbols appear, and you’re guaranteed at least one Collector symbol per spin.
The minimum amount you can stake on the game is $/€/£0.10, and the maximum is $/€/£25, which isn’t quite as high as most other slot games. The maximum win is 10,000x your stake, so if you’re playing for the highest possible amount, you could be walking away with $/€/£250,000.
We were slightly disappointed to see that the Return to Player (RTP) percentage of the game is 95.25%, which is well below the industry average of 96%. The volatility is high, and combined with the chance to win a jackpot, the gameplay is relatively exciting.
In our opinion, the Respins round and the potential to win one of three jackpots make Loot Crab worth a try. Unfortunately, the RTP really lets this game down, and the theme is one that we’ve seen many times over the years. Overall, this game is a good option for beginners, but it might be a little too simple for keen slot players.
