From the tale of the Three Little Pigs to Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, there's no shortage of games themed around our favorite fairytales. Jack and the Giant by Ready Play Gaming is based on the classic Jack and the Beanstalk story – and you might just be able to climb all the way up to a win.
The design of the game is pretty simple – it's set high up above a farm, with rolling green hills in the distance. You can't miss the giant beanstalk, as it's wrapped around the whole game grid. The high-paying symbols are all related to the theme, so you should look out for a cow, a castle, and even a golden egg-laying goose (although in the original story, it was a hen).
A fairytale-esque soundtrack sets the tone for the game. It's a dreamy blend of string instruments, with a dramatic violin note as symbols begin to land on the grid.
Jack and the Giant comes with 50 fixed paylines, all of which are active with every spin. Wins pay out when at least three of the same symbols land on adjacent reels from left to right on one of those 50 paylines. The more matching symbols, the bigger your win.
The Wild symbol pays out the most, at 500x, if you get five of them on a payline. Other symbols to look out for include the castle, goose, cow, and harp, while the A, K, Q, J, 10, and 9 symbols award smaller wins.
The main character, Jack, can appear on the reels himself in the form of the Wild symbol. The Wild can expand to cover the entire reel and substitutes for all symbols except the Scatter.
The formidable giant is the Scatter symbol, which takes up two positions on the reel whenever it lands. Landing three Scatters will get you eight Free Spins, four Scatters bags 15 Spins, and with five you'll get 25 Free Spins. During Free Spins, extra Wilds are added to the reels, and wins that include a Wild are multiplied by 3x.
The minimum stake amount for this game is $/€/£0.50 and the maximum is a very high $/€/£1,000, which makes the game suitable for players with a larger budget. The Return to Player (RTP) percentage is set at 94.97%, which is significantly lower than most other modern video slots. The volatility is low, so wins tend to be quite frequent, but not too big. We usually prefer to recommend games with high volatility, but newer players might enjoy the more regular wins.
The RTP of this game is very low, which is a major drawback. We don't really think that the graphics or general gameplay are very groundbreaking or exciting and the only special feature is the Free Spins round. Overall, we'd only recommend this slot if you're looking for something very straightforward and you're not too concerned about extra features or immersive gameplay.
