Ahoy, mateys, it's time to set sail on the seven seas, as you join a group of buccaneers on their latest adventure. Plus, you'll stand a chance to win more than 10,000x your stake.
The game is set in stormy seas, just off a jagged coastline. The ominous sea laps the shore, as colorful parrots fly around in the sky. If you look closely, you'll notice that the cave in the background is shaped like a creepy skull. If you get into the Free Spins round you'll be transported inside the cave, which is overflowing with gold coins.
The backing track is a dramatic tune, made up of drum beats and strings, plus the usual slot game bells and whistles when you land a win.
The three pirate characters act as high-paying symbols. They can appear in two different forms: as creepy zombies or normal humans. You'll trigger smaller wins by landing at least three of the compass, sword, or telescope icons, or the A, K, Q, J, or 10 symbols.
4 Pirate Chests doesn't have traditional paylines. Instead, wins payout in 1,024 different ways.
Wild symbols can land anywhere except on the first reel, and they help trigger wins by completing combinations. You can't miss the Wild symbol, as it spells out the word.
The best special feature here is the BOOMPOT or Mystery Pirate Pays feature.
Skull Coins can appear on any symbol that lands on reels 2 - 5. You'll see special Treasure Chests above reels 3 - 5, and if a Skull Coin lands on a symbol, it will be collected into the Treasure Chest, potentially triggering the Mystery Pirate Pays feature. A random number of Mystery Symbols will be added to the grid from reel one to the triggering reel, and they'll all transform into the same paying symbol.
If a Skull Coin is collected on reel 2, you could trigger the Pirates Plunder Free Spins round, with 8 spins. During Free Spins the Treasure Chests are triggered more frequently than in the base game.
The volatility of the game is high, which means that wins tend to be a little less frequent, but on average they're bigger. The Return to Player (RTP) percentage of the game is 96.01% and while this isn't amazing, it's still slightly higher than average and falls within the range that we would recommend. You can stake as little as $/€/£0.10 per spin on 4 Pirate Chests, or as much as $/€/£80.
The graphics are good but not exactly cutting-edge, and the RTP could definitely be better. So, what makes 4 Pirate Chests worth your time? Without a doubt, it's the special features. The Treasure Chests offer a unique way of triggering the bonuses and both the Free Spins round and the Mystery Pirate Pay feature can be quite lucrative.
