Everyone has their own way of dealing with things. Gambling is quite demanding if the player is addicted to it or is becoming addicted.

However, there is always a way out, even if it is sometimes more difficult; it is quite individual. If this is what helped you, then in my opinion, you are one of the few people who can say, "I'm not going to gamble," and really mean it.

I commend you for that.🙂

Don't get me wrong I still gamble but I definitely know I ain't addicted to it, there is four things that people get addicted to drinking, drugs, gambling, and smoking and I don't have any, I used to smoke now I can taste anything I eat lol.

Yes, I think I understand. It's definitely good that you have it under control. I was thinking more about the fact that if you can say you won't gamble and stick to it, that's something that isn't easy for most people, I think.🙂

I think this problem can be dealt with. If you don't play for about 6 months and don't feel the urge to play again, then I don't think you have a gambling problem.

I agree. Someone who’s addicted needs to have it all the time, so if someone can actually stay away from it for a few months, that’s definitely a good thing.

Where do you stand on this?

Hello, such a good person, even if I had read your valuable article three years ago, I unfortunately wouldn't have taken it to heart. Your points are 100% correct, but your approach to explaining it to the player is either too simplistic or abstract.

It takes truly authentic negative examples that are unequivocally clear. Unfortunately.

Paying in is easy...everything after that weighs heavily.

A few months are such precious time and so full of "money." I can speak from experience. I lived like a stray dog for a year, eating the free apples at work... I hate apples... then, high as a kite, I tried to change my online banking password and consequently had no access for several months. Before that, I'd taken out another loan from my boss, on top of which I was on reduced hours. One loan out of several. Yet suddenly, I always had money. That feeling of being able to go to the store and simply buy what you want is incredibly wonderful.

Then I set up online banking again. It's really handy for paying bills. But on the very first day, I gambled away my entire salary. Luckily, I was a beginner and at least I had paid all my bills.

Gambling addiction is the most unsatisfying and thankless addiction there is. To blame a casino for this, even if it doesn't block you upon request, seems questionable to me. Get yourself banned...you'll just go to the next one. My father once said to me, and I'll never forget how he said it, "You have to be tough!" That "you have to be tough" grabbed my sense of honor, and I almost never asked him for money to pay bills again.

Hello, I just want to say that I'm not sure whether you have been there, but addiction is usually not a steady line; it has ups and downs and often includes relapses. So I guess it's fair to say that in the most despairing moments one can be simply overwhelmed. In my opinion, keeping trying is equal to what you called "get through." Besides, the point of getting better is actually not to go to another casino while the first one has failed to ban you. It's actually the opposite. This forum is full of angry addicted players whose accounts remain open or have even been reopened, and for me, for example, it has never been pleasant reading. It is supposed to be a shared responsibility, after all.

Yet I like the part about what you did after your father tutored you. I have the same approach.

It's just that the nature of addiction is what makes people struggle; you won't always overcome it with logic or with a one-time resolution. One has to find each day, every single minute, with all the casinos around... I would not be so hasty with such bold conclusions. 😉

Those are all great points. I'd add one more habit that has helped me personally: never gamble when you're tired, stressed, or trying to improve your mood.

It's much easier to make impulsive decisions when you're emotional or distracted. I also think taking short breaks every hour helps keep things in perspective. When you step away for 10–15 minutes, it's easier to decide whether you're still playing for entertainment or simply because you don't want to stop.

Another simple tip is to review your gambling history from time to time. Looking back at deposits, withdrawals, wins, and losses gives you a much more realistic picture than relying on memory alone.

At the end of the day, gambling should always be entertainment, never a way to solve financial problems or recover losses.

I'd say you've made some excellent points, and I appreciate you sharing them. Everything you mentioned is definitely relevant. If these are habits you actually follow yourself when you gamble, and they help you keep everything under control and recognize when it's time to stop, then that's great.

I think many players struggle with that, and that's often when emotions take over and people make decisions they probably wouldn't make if they were thinking more clearly.

So, thank you for your contribution. I hope you're able to continue keeping your gambling under control just as you described. 🍀

That’s 100 per cent true it’s precisely those bouts of ‘gambling on a whim’ that I always regret the next day. I’ve started taking a 10-minute break after a run of bad luck, and it’s just incredible how often that helps to break the downward spiral.
