Hey guys
Been a while since I’ve been on here. I’ve just been reading through and catching up on everything that’s been going on. Thought I’d drop a quick update.
I’m still in talks with my bank in the UK and got a reply yesterday that was actually quite positive. They said they’ve now been formally made aware by the FCA about what’s been happening with these illegal casinos. The FCA has told the banks they’ll be looking at the situation in detail and that they’re expected to build in better protection and processes for vulnerable customers, which sounds like a good step.
I had a lot of chargebacks refused at first but after pushing it through the complaints team they’ve told me they’re working with Visa to see what else can be done. So if you’ve been honest with your bank there might be some movement in the right direction.
Just a word of warning though. Banks share info about chargebacks and potential money laundering. At first a few people might get a chargeback through but once more people start doing it the data builds up fast. Not everyone who’s doing this posts on forums and the banks will be looking at it all together.
So just be careful. If you’re getting your money back and going back onto the same sites the banks will see that and it won’t look good. With all the press and attention this is starting to get they’re going to be taking a closer look at what’s happened and how people are handling it from here.
Hopefully it means better protection for those who’ve been caught up in this but just be smart about how you go about it.
Take care everyone.
