While we're looking for the solution for blocking these messages, I'd say the best option would be to find a tool that blocks all messages containing links except messages from your contacts. I don't think it would be too complicated to create such a tool and it's possible that something is already out there. We just need to find it 🙂

When I’ve spoken to Vodafone about it, they just don’t seem interested.

The issue with these texts is that there is no actual number present. It just was with a name and a blank entry for the number

Actually blocking senders without a visible number should be possible as well. I'll try to look at it next week in more detail. I believe that if we manage to find a solution, it would be beneficial to a lot of people.

For sure it would be. I’ve searched the internet numerous times and can’t seem to find a solution. I’ve come across a number of posts were people discuss this same issue.

Will be good to see if you can find a solution!

Actually, I found something that might work. Are you able to call the SMS sender? If you manage to do so and cancel the call immediately, you may discover the phone number and then you can block it.

I also have another possible solution if the mobile operator refuses to help. You may start threatening with UKGC. You can also claim that the adverts are delivered to children and they refused to deal with it.

If it doesn't help, then I'd submit it to UKGC.

Unfortunately all these texts come from unlicensed casinos so that’s not an option

This doesn’t work. When you press the info button, there is no option to call a number back. I will post screen shots when I next get a text

The problem is, nobody knows where the messages come from as they arrive with a name such as Vera, Sara etc. but no other details

Did you try Apps like Robokiller or True caller. Or even better search for open source alternative spam blockers. I know IOS is not open like Android but there are lots of open source apps and tools for iOS on github.

Thanks I might just do that. For the 1st time yesterday I didn’t get one after blocking about 220

They have found a way of stopping the blocking which is really annoying. Now you don’t get a number you just get a name which you can’t block. I got 3 today they all arrive about 5.30pm

Hello,

have you actually tried to block the sender of such a message in the message option?

I found an article, it suggests it should be somehow possible:

Have a look at XDA forum or a similar site. Or wherever the iPhone hobby coders hang out Maybe they have a solution. Or Reddit.

But are you able to click on Elaine, press "Call" and then hang up immediately?

No that option doesn’t come up and there is no option to text back either. So at present they have covered all the bases

Damn, whenever someone contacts me this way, I always see the option to call back 😕
