Case summary

The player from Switzerland faced issues with Bets.io regarding delayed withdrawals and accusations of using a prohibited strategy. After withdrawing 1150 XRP and later 1350 XRP, both requests encountered unjustified delays, and the second was withheld without clear evidence or communication. The player was locked out of their account and sought the release of the withheld funds, an explanation for the accusations, and reinstatement of account access. The Complaints Team acknowledged that while the casino provided evidence for blocking the account due to card counting, they also asserted that winnings should be paid out. However, the casino failed to respond to inquiries, leading to the complaint being closed as unresolved, with the hope that this might prompt a change in the casino's approach.

Summary of Complaint:

I am submitting this complaint against the online casino Bets.io, licensed under Anjouan (License No. ALSI-202410047-FI2), concerning two separate incidents involving delayed and ultimately withheld cryptocurrency withdrawals, vague communication, and recent unexplained account restrictions after a serious accusation of misconduct.

Incident 1 – Unjustified Delay of 1150 XRP Withdrawal (May 31, 2025):

On 31/05/2025 at 00:20 UTC, I submitted a withdrawal request for 1150 XRP following a routine session of virtual blackjack. The withdrawal remained pending for several days without justification.

Despite repeated attempts to get a clear update via my assigned VIP manager ("Joe"), I was told only that the "finance team is busy." No timeframe, review process, or reason was ever provided. My requests for transparency went unanswered.

The withdrawal was only processed after I escalated the matter externally — including filing complaints and preparing legal correspondence. Only then was the withdrawal released. I was later informally accused of using a "prohibited strategy," although no such strategy was ever defined, and no evidence was provided.

As this was virtual (RNG-based) blackjack, card counting or deck tracking is impossible. My approach was to increase bets modestly during win streaks and revert to base bets after losses. This is a basic manual strategy, not automation or predictive modeling.

Incident 2 – Withheld 1350 XRP & Allegation of Cheating (June 2025):

On a subsequent session in early June, I requested a withdrawal of 1350 XRP, again using the same playing strategy. The withdrawal again went into a pending state and remained unresolved for over 5 days.

After escalating to VIP support and Bets.io management with no meaningful updates, I was informed the withdrawal was being withheld due to a violation of their Anti-Fraud Policy (Clause 11), accusing me of using a "prohibited strategy."

Notably:

No explanation of the strategy or evidence of breach was ever provided.

No opportunity was given to respond or appeal.

I was not explicitly informed that my account was closed, but the 1350 XRP was subtracted from my balance, and I have since been locked out of my account with no access to support or transaction history.

I strongly deny any breach of terms. I did not use bots, automated software, or advanced algorithms. I played manually and can provide correspondence logs.

Additional Context:

I previously contacted the Anjouan Gaming Control Authority and Anjouan Licensing Services, and advised them to disregard my earlier complaint when the May issue was resolved — they indicated they were still open to reviewing my experiences further.

I have also prepared detailed reviews and transcripts for publication on crypto forums, review platforms, and with blockchain compliance firms, though I held off on releasing them to allow time for resolution.

This repeated pattern of delay, accusation without evidence, and lack of accountability from Bets.io has caused considerable distress.

Requested Resolution:

Immediate release of the withheld 1350 XRP to my wallet (address available upon request).

A formal clarification of the accusation and the grounds for subtracting funds.

Reinstatement of account access, or a full statement confirming closure along with final account balance reconciliation.

Should this matter be resolved promptly and fairly, I am willing to close all open complaints and cease further action. If not, I will proceed with legal support and share my experience with the wider crypto and iGaming community.

Hi Katarina,

Could you please provide the exact date your withdrawal request?

Cash out of 1350 XRP requested on 18/06.

Have you accumulated your winnings with the help of bonus?

No bonus was used to accumulate winnings.

Could you please advise which games you focused on - slots, live casino, sports betting, etc.?

I played Live Blackjack from Betterlive in their VIP Section (VIP Blackjack & Oasis VIP)

Have you passed the KYC verification process, please?

No, this casino does not require this to play nor have I even been asked to complete KYC.

After my cashout, I was made to wait several days before finding out that my withdrawal had been subtracted and my account closed/suspended without notice. I’m not sure which but all I can say is that I’m unable

to access it.

Dear Jayshfx!

I wanted to give you a heads-up — our security team flagged some unusual patterns in your recent gameplay that could indicate card counting. Since you're a valued VIP player with a positive history, we’ve decided to process your withdrawal this time as a gesture of goodwill.

That said, to keep things fair for everyone, we’d kindly ask you to avoid similar play patterns in the future. If it happens again, we may have to take further action.

We truly appreciate your loyalty and hope you continue to enjoy the games responsibly.

Congrats on your withdrawal!

Kind regards,

VIP Department account manager

Hi Katarina,

You’ll have the emails & transcripts from me shortly however please take note of the message from Bets.io above and that despite them saying the withdrawal would be processed, I have still not yet received this.

I have provided my wallet address to ensure they have it as I am still completely locked out of my account with Bets.io.

Thanks,

Jacob

Good afternoon, Katarina!

We would like to clarify the message we sent earlier. Some of your platform’s restrictions are occasionally helpful to us, but unfortunately, they leave no room for error. Following your past recommendations, where you advised us to warn players instead of immediately blocking them, we acted accordingly.

The message referenced above in this thread—we emphasize—is a duplicate of the original warning email we sent to the player on June 4, 2025. After issuing the first warning, we made a goodwill gesture by allowing the player to continue using our services, including the option to withdraw funds.

His last successful withdrawal took place on June 17, 2025, at 21:45 UTC. We have also sent you a screenshot of this transaction, the hash, and the warning email.

We understand that the term "warning" implies a single, one-time opportunity. As a rule, our doors remain open to those who respond positively to a warning, which is why we allowed the player to continue without further concern.

However, the player violated the rules again, and we subsequently blocked the account. The duplicate message mentioned earlier was published unintentionally and was likely perceived by the player as a further act of goodwill—but this is not the case. The account remains permanently blocked. We are happy to provide any additional evidence you may require.

Hi Katarina,

In response to the message published above by the provider, Bets.io, there are several concerns here.

Firstly, this was not made clear in their response in any way, shape or form, that this was a previous message being reported. This is extremely misleading and a continued reflection of the service & quite frankly poor communication offered by this provider. As you have seen from the email I have copied you in on, they have not responded to me directly and yesterday was the first time Bets.io have acknowledged the block on my account and even then, this was via a response on TrustPilot, with no formal message sent to me directly.

Secondly, and more importantly, the claims of violating the rules are absolutely baseless and this is clearly an attempt by the casino to avoid paying winnings that are due from a profitable Blackjack session with Betterlive (game provider). The session which was played on the Oasis VIP table where several long streaks of winning hands were had where I incrementally increased my bet (both main & side bets) as the game continued. In this session, I hit several high paying side bets which are Trips & Straight Flush which pay 30/40-1. To make the claim that increasing you bet when winning and reducing when losing violates any casino policies is quite frankly ridiculous and if the casino believes this, then they should stop offering ANY Blackjack altogether.

It is quite clear from the responses provided by Bets.io that they do not want the player to win and are happy to offer games both slots, live etc as long as the player is not winning.

I believe Bets.io should share all the game transactions with you showing the bets, wins & losses to allow you to analyse these and what you will find is clear evidence that no foul play, algorithm betting or "card counting" has happened and instead, a profitable Blackjack session has taken place where after winning both main & side bets, the bet has increased over time.

For Bets.io to make this claim of cheating, & sticking to it, as a result of a winning session is extremely concerning for all players that would ever use their service with a high likelihood of withdrawals being refused & accounts being blocked if they were to win.

I truly hope you can see through the absolute garbage responses that Bets.io are sharing here & on other platforms when ultimately, all that is happening is unjust refusal to pay winnings that are rightfully owed.

Thanks,

Jacob

Thank you Peter, I very much hope so too.

The provider is likely going to come back to you with the reason that rules were violated however I strongly deny any breach of terms or rules in my Blackjack play and I invited a full audit of all my hands played - which I’m sure Bets.io are happy to provide - where it can be seen that a winning BJ session was had through Betterlive, with the bets incrementally increased as the session became profitable.

I will not speak on behalf of the Casino but o wanted to re-iterate this point. I have been extremely open to de-escalation of this situation since the begging, once in receipt of my fairly won winnings.

thank you,

Jacob

Thank you for providing me with the information Bets.io Casino representative. I have responded to your email, and I await your response!

Dear Jayshfx, I would like to clarify that the casino has provided sufficient evidence to justify blocking due to card counting. However, we believe that online casinos should adopt the same approach towards card counters as land-based casinos do. In a land-based casino, if a player is caught counting cards, they will either get a warning, get banned from the tables, or be banned from entering the casino, but in all cases, they should get to keep their winnings. As such, I have requested that all your winnings should be paid out. I will keep you updated about any new developments. Thank you for your patience during this time!

Hello Peter, thank you for your update on this matter and time spent investigating, it is appreciated. I do wish to protest the card counting statement as this sincerely was not the case whatsoever however I feel this would be a waste of time.

Your proposed resolution would be satisfactory to me, so I hope an agreement can be reached with Bets.io to get the winnings paid, and then we will part ways.

thanks,

Jacob

Final Update from Player

The 7-day response window has now expired, and Bets.io has failed to provide any response, either to myself or to Casino Guru. Despite receiving clear communication and being given every opportunity to resolve this issue, they have chosen to remain completely silent.

As highlighted previously, Casino Guru acknowledged that while Bets.io claimed "advantage play," they also confirmed that winnings should still be paid — aligning with how land-based casinos treat such scenarios.

Bets.io’s refusal to communicate, process my withdrawal, or provide any formal notice of account closure reflects extremely poorly on their operation. This entire situation has been documented thoroughly, and public awareness will continue to grow.

Thank you to Casino Guru for investigating this fairly. I hope this case stands as a warning to other players about the risk of having legitimate winnings withheld on this platform.

We would like to ask the casino to reply to this complaint. We are extending the timer by 7 days. If the casino fails to respond in the set time frame, we will close the complaint as ‘unresolved’ which may negatively affect its rating.

Public

With less than 24 hours remaining on the response deadline, I want to reiterate that I have received no communication from Bets.io through any channel — no email, no platform message, and no formal account closure notice.

This silence has persisted despite:

Over 10 emails sent from my side (with Casino Guru copied)

A clear recommendation from Casino Guru that my winnings should be paid

Bets.io publicly stating they would process the withdrawal, only to later backtrack

I find their complete lack of care for player rights and their disregard for Casino Guru’s role as an impartial mediator extremely concerning — not just for me, but for any future player who may encounter a similar issue.

I have acted in full transparency and professionalism throughout this process, and if no response is received by the deadline, I respectfully ask that the case be closed as Unresolved — Player Favored. I will also be making this situation fully public across all relevant channels, platforms, and forums.

Thank you again to Casino Guru for the continued oversight.

Dear jayshfx, the casino has not responded to any of my inquiries regarding the case so for that reason, I am forced to close the complaint as unresolved. I understand this isn't a satisfactory solution to your issue. However, the decrease in the rating caused by unresolved complaints might help to change the casino's approach. If the casino decides to react, we will reopen the complaint, and you will be notified by email. I am sorry I could not be of more help on this occasion.

Best regards,

Peter
