Ashoka Eternal is a worthy sequel to the original Ashoka game but it is let down by a poor RTP, despite serving up a generous maximum win of 25,000x your stake and some engaging bonus action.
Read full reviewAshoka Eternal is a spiritual and Asian-themed game from ELK Studios. It is a sequel to the Ashoka slot released by the same studio.
Ashoka Eternal takes us deep into the heart of South Asia and places us in the middle of some sort of spiritual temple and garden. The reels are presented on the wall of a water feature, with a tranquil pond sitting in front of the grid and rays of sunlight reflecting off it.
It is a much more colorful affair than its predecessor, and like most ELK Studios slots, it looks great. The soundscape is slightly livelier than the calming setting may suggest, with some upbeat South Asian music playing as you spin the reels. Of course, some stylish sound effects also guide you through the action as it unfolds.
Ashoka Eternal starts life with an interesting set-up. The slot has five reels, each of which can display seven symbols. However, some of the symbols will be blocked off. The game uses a cluster-pay mechanic, with winning combinations paying for clusters of five or more. The blocks can be removed from the grid when wins are formed, with the maximum grid size being 7x9.
The first feature you're likely to encounter is the Avalanche Wins mechanic. Whenever you land a win, the symbols are removed, and new ones fall onto the grid. If a winning cluster is formed next to a blocked symbol, it is revealed and will stay revealed until the end of the sequence.
If you clear the grid, the area will expand to 7x7, and if you remove those, it will expand to 7x9, which is the maximum size.
A Multiplier Wheel with 12 positions is next to the reels. It needs to lock into a position where a Multiplier activation symbol is in the top position to activate the wheel. The wheel moves one space to the left with every win. If you clear level 3 with the blockers, the wheel stops, and a Global Multiplier is activated. Multiplier symbols that land next to winning clusters are added to the Global Multiplier. This resets at the end of a winning sequence.
Big Wild symbols can land on any spin. These can be up to 3x3 in size, and they count as the number of individual spaces they cover. For example, a 3x3 Wild counts as 9 individual Wilds. Charged Wild symbols can also land, and these last for up to three wins.
There is a Redrop feature that can activate when there are no wins left after a sequence. It picks one symbol and keeps them sticky while the rest of the board redrops, potentially creating more wins.
Three active Bonus Symbols trigger eight Free Spins. Inactive Bonus symbols become active when adjacent to a winning symbol. Charged Wilds carry over from the base game into the bonus. Scatter symbols and the Global Multiplier remain persistent throughout the spins.
The Super Free Spins bonus is triggered when one of the triggering symbols is a Super Bonus symbol. In this round, there is double the chance of the Global Multiplier being triggered.
Depending on your location, you can buy your way into the bonus rounds thanks to ELK Studio’s X-iter feature.
Ashoka Eternal serves up some big wins but is let down by a poor RTP. The game has a maximum win of 25,000x your stake and is rated highly volatile by ELK Studios. Unfortunately, the RTP is below average at 94%, which means we can not recommend it according to our slot strategy guide.
Ashoka Eternal is a solid online slot from ELK Studios, let down by a poor RTP of 94%. The maximum win of 25,000x your stake and the well-organized bonus features can lead to some exciting gameplay, but the poor RTP means we can not recommend the slot.
