PIX is an instant payment system run by the Brazilian Central Bank that specializes in real-time e-wallet transactions. It employs the QR code payment method which eliminates the need for the traditional payment framework of acquirers and issuers, allowing for cheaper transactions.
Thanks to its digital setup, many online casinos now accept PIX as a payment method and players in Brazil can use it as a safe way to make instant deposits.
This page will tell you more about PIX's history and service, how to find the best PIX online casino and bonus, and how to use PIX once you sign up.
Google, Facebook, WhatsApp, Uber. These were the companies that Brazilian Central Bank President Roberto Campos Neto was talking about as partners for PIX, the country's brand-new e-payment system, at its launch in November 2020.
The excitement at seeing Brazil's first 24/7 real-time payment method was reflected in the public interest for the product: 72 million registrations, around a third of the national population, were recorded by the launch date. The benefits were clear: PIX is free for its users and it eliminates the need for plastic cards – great news for the 33% of Brazilians who don't have a bank account. Customers could use it to pay for anything, from ice cream to cars, and it provided much-need competition to the banking sectors top five banks, who hold 80% of the nation's assets and deposits between them.
Once launched, PIX was quickly adopted for a wide range of products and services. Uber started to accept PIX payment for its ride service and Uber Eats via its Uber Cash facility, while, soon after, WhatsApp gave the go-ahead for Banco do Brasil payments via PIX on its platform.
Note: The clamor for its service led consultancy firm Oliver Wyman to predict that PIX will provide 22% of Brazilian electronic payments by 2030, making it the biggest payment system of its kind in Latin America.
With new functionalities to come, such as cash-back and preprogramed payments commonly found on credit cards, PIX looks set to continue its growth and become a leading option for virtual payments in the near future.
If you're based in Brazil, then PIX is an excellent payment option. It's instant and available 24/7, so if you're looking to make a quick deposit in a PIX-friendly casino, then you can start playing right away. It's also compatible with a wide range of products – 750 companies had signed up to the service by its launch – and there are now many more that allow you to use it to buy their products and services.
PIX also has you covered even if you don't have a bank account: it simply transfers funds between digital wallets using a QR-code method to do so. This is as easy as it sounds: you simply scan the code with your phone, enter a passcode to authorize the payment and you're done.
Yet there are some downsides to consider, too. Firstly, PIX's success might mean it becomes a little too powerful and widespread for some people's tastes. They might start to add charges, or it may mean that people without the service can't pay for certain products that only use PIX for payments. Their dominance could also be damaging to other startups who depend on fee-based transactions to operate.
PIX also sells its service based on it being free, which is true, however you might have pay merchant fees depending on which one you use. It's also only available to users based in Brazil at the time of writing (in April 2021), so people in other countries can't make use of it.
Generally speaking, though, the platform has revolutionized virtual payments in Brazil, and competitors will have to 'up their game' to compete – something that should be good news for Brazilian customers.
Using PIX to make an online casino deposit is easy. First, ensure that you have an account with the casino in question– if you don't, then it'll only take a few minutes to open one.
Once ready, head to the casino's cashier and select 'PIX' as the payment method in the deposit section. You should then see a QR Code and/or a PIX key: copy one of these and then access your bank or digital wallet's page. There, you can paste the code or key into the payment section where you'll be redirected to the casino cashier. Finally, deposit the exact amount that you want (double-check that you put the right figure in) then confirm the transaction – the money should be transferred right away.
Note: The QR code and PIX key expire within a few hours, so it's probably best to do the transaction all at once in case of a technical problem.
Withdrawing with PIX is a little trickier. First, it depends on which casino you're using and which wallet you want to withdraw to. If you do have the option, then you'll be able to see it listed in the casino's cashier in the withdrawal section. You then just need to follow a similar process to making a deposit, only it will probably take several days to arrive back in your account and may be subject to processing fees. This is why it's always a good idea to check this information before signing up to a casino, just to avoid any unwelcome surprises.
Many online casinos support PIX as a payment method, which is great news if you want to make a deposit using the platform. However, it's important to make sure that the casino you use is trustworthy. This page will help you do that with our team reviewing and rating every PIX casino; the results of which you can see with each site's information box.
Selecting the 'Recommended' filter on this page will help you find the casinos that score highest in our system – these are the sites that give you the best chance of a safe playing experience, with good customer service and a reliability to pay out big prizes. The 'Newly opened' tab, meanwhile, will show you the newest PIX-friendly casinos around, while 'All' will give you the complete list of sites that accept PIX deposits.

Bonuses are a common way for online casinos to get your attention and they're also a useful way for players to find out more about how it operates and the games it offers. Deposit (or welcome) bonuses and no deposit bonuses are the two most common types of these, and you can find those that PIX casinos offer on Casino Guru.
To see a list of these, head to our list of casino bonuses and choose 'PIX' in the payment method filter. If you want to see different types of bonuses, you can select these, too, so choosing 'No Deposit Bonus', for example, will show you those. Alternatively, you could see these by going to our list of no deposit bonuses and choosing 'PIX' there.
We do our best to keep these offers up to date, so every bonus that you see should be ready to use as of today's date.
