2020 also saw the first use of QR codes, generated from the user's banking app, which allowed them to pay and receive money this way. They can also make use of Bizum features via the app, including making donations to charity.
Today, Bizum is the top mobile payment service in the country and even considers itself the 'main competitor to cash', according to its Head of Business Development. Whether it will replace cash, and whether this will be for the best, remains to be seen.
Pros and cons of using Bizum in online casinos
Bizum's key strength, the thing that puts it above traditional P2P payments in Spain, is its speed. Whereas before banking customers had to wait at least 24 hours for money to transfer (for free) between accounts, Bizum offers an instant transaction.
