A fortunate lottery player in North Carolina recently triumphed after winning a sweet $180,000 Fast Play jackpot.
The name of the lucky winner is Arlene Williams, the North Carolina Education Lottery confirmed in a statement earlier this week.
Williams, a Roxboro, Person County resident, purchased a ticket for the Lottery's popular Classic Bingo game.
To her surprise, she won the $178,913 Fast Play jackpot.
The fortunate lottery player purchased her winning ticket on September 23 from the Breeze Thru located on Durham Road in Roxboro.
Earlier this week, Williams visited the Lottery headquarters to collect her prize.
Remembering the day she purchased her winning ticket, the fortunate woman told Lottery officials: "I guess it was just the right place, right time."
Moreover, Williams pointed out: "I had to look again and again. Then I called my daughter to tell her."
When asked by Lottery officials what are her plans about the unexpected windfall, the Roxboro woman said that she wants to pay off her college loans.
At the time the lucky player hit the Classic Bingo jackpot, the grand prize was $894,565.
Considering that Williams purchased a $2 ticket, she was eligible for 20% of the progressive jackpot or exactly $178,913.
After the applicable federal and state taxes, the lucky winner collected nearly $128,000.
The North Carolina Education Lottery's Classic Bingo game grants lottery players a chance to secure a prize between $2 and a 20% percentage of a progressive jackpot.
The game costs $2 per play and it offers overall odds of 1 in 4.00.
In Classic Bingo, players have a 1 in 8.96 chance to win $2 which is the lowest-tier prize.
On the other hand, winning 20% of the progressive jackpot which is the top prize from the game carries odds of 1 in 320,000.
At the time of writing, the top prize from the $2 Classic Bingo game is estimated at $176,450.
