A lucky couple from British Columbia, Canada plans to complete home improvements and purchase a new car, after scoring a hefty lottery win.

The British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), the only legal gambling provider in the Canadian province offering lottery, casino, sports betting and other gambling games, confirmed that a fortunate couple recently scored a million-dollar win from Lotto Max.

The lucky winners, Gail and Thomas Hewitt from Duncan, hit CA$1m from one of the recent Lotto Max draws in November, Casino Guru News learned from a press release by the BCLC.

The fortunate couple was recently interviewed by Lottery officials.

Gail Hewitt remembered that she went shopping at Walmart and decided to try her luck with a Lotto Max ticket.

To the woman's surprise, she won a mouth-watering CA$1m win.

Gail's husband, Thomas Hewitt, was incredibly excited to realize that they won a million-dollar prize. He said: "My brain was numb, I was excited!"

The couple purchased their winning ticket from Walmart on Drinkwater Road in Duncan.

Recently visiting the Lottery headquarters, Gail and Thomas Hewitt were asked if they had any plans about the unexpected windfall.

The couple confirmed that they plan to complete renovations to their kitchen.

In addition, the Duncan residents said they want to buy a new car.

Lotto Max jackpot estimated at CA$80m

The cost per ticket for Lotto Max is CA$5. Players need to pick three sets of seven numbers between 1 and 50.

An extra CA$1 per play grants lottery players a chance to win CA$500,000.

Lotto Max nationwide drawings are held every Tuesday and Friday night.

The lottery game's jackpot starts at CA$10m and can reach as far as CA$80m.

Lotto Max's next drawing is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at 7:30 PT.

At the time of writing, the game's jackpot is an estimated CA$80m.

Since the start of the year, Lotto Max has awarded more than CA$126m to lottery players across British Columbia.

Tickets for the popular lottery game are available via BCLC's official website, the lottery application available for iOS and Android devices, as well as online on PlayNow.com and via licensed retail outlets.
