A great-grandmother with a total of 18 great-grandchildren from Reisterstown in Maryland was recently pleasantly surprised by a hefty $200,000 lottery win.
The Maryland Lottery confirmed in a statement that the name of the fortunate player is Betty Hughes.
As a fan of lottery games, the woman recently tried her luck with the Lottery's $10 Ravens X10 scratch-off ticket.
To Hughes' surprise, she won one of the game's top prizes, a sweet $200,000 win.
The Reisterstown resident purchased her winning lottery ticket while shopping with her daughter at the Giant grocery store on 11604 Reisterstown Road in Reisterstown.
Speaking to Lottery officials, the lucky winner's daughter said: "We always stop by the machines."
Recalling the day of the big win, Hughes' daughter said that her mother scratched off the ticket right away and was shocked to realize she scored one of the top prizes from Ravens X10.
While excited about the $200,000 win, Hughes remained calm and even told her daughter: "Be quiet. We've got to get to the car."
Asked by Lottery officials if she will continue to play the lottery, Hughes responded: "Oh, you know it."
Hughes admitted to being an avid lottery player and a fan of the Maryland-based Baltimore Ravens.
The lucky winner has a big family consisting of three adult children, as well as seven grandchildren. Moreover, the great-grandmother has a total of 18 great-grandchildren with three expected to be born in the next weeks and months.
When asked if she had any plans about the windfall, Hughes said she would share it with her family.
The football-themed Ravens X10 scratch-off ticket was introduced by the Maryland Lottery back in mid-August this year.
The game costs $10 per play and grants lottery players a chance to win a prize between $10 and $200,000.
While there was a total of nine top prizes at the launch of Ravens X10, now, only five remain in play.
The overall odds of winning any prize from the popular lottery game are 1 in 3.28.
