Read full reviewMines is a very simple Spribe game, where the aim is to avoid landing on Mine icons.
The look and the feel of this game are pretty much as simple as can be. Mines is played on a blue background with some subtle images of stars and mines. The only animation is a very basic flip when you land on a Mine symbol. There's no background soundtrack, only a few simple chimes when you flip the tiles.
Mines isn't difficult to learn at all, especially if you were a fan of the Minesweeper PC game back in the 90s. The aim is simply to flip as many tiles as possible, without landing on a Mine. The more tiles you turn over before you land on a Mine, the bigger your win. You can choose to cash out at any time by using the option at the bottom of the screen.
The game is played on a 5x5 grid, and depending on the level of risk you're comfortable with, you can adjust the number of Mines that appear. You'll stand a better chance of lasting for longer if you choose just one Mine, but the potential wins are much bigger if you opt for the maximum of 20 Mines. All tiles that aren’t hiding a Mine will reveal a Star symbol.
Mines is a very simple game, so there are no Wilds or bonus rounds. The only symbols that can appear are the Stars and Mines.
You can use the Random feature to allow the computer to select a tile for you, and there's also an Auto function, which allows you to play up to 500 rounds without any manual inputs.
The bet range for Mines is between $/€/£0.10 and $/€/£100 per spin, and the maximum amount you can win from a single bet is $/€/£10,000. You'll need to play for the maximum bet amount to snag the biggest possible prize.
Mines has a Return to Player (RTP) percentage of 97%, which is comfortably above the industry average of 96%. The volatility of the game is dependent on how many active Mines are on the grid. For example, if there are only a few Mines, the volatility is lower (more frequent, smaller wins), while with 20 Mines the game tends to be highly volatile, so wins are less likely but they’re much larger.
The amount of money you can win depends on your bet size and on the number of Mines you choose. For example, one successful selection with 20 active Mines is worth $/€/£4.85, while with just one Mine, the same winning bet only pays out $/€/£1.01.
If you're looking for a very simple and straightforward game, Mines is a good option. There's no strategy, and you don't have to learn about any complex features or gameplay mechanisms. Plus, the maximum win of $/€/£10,000 is generous. It's worth noting that if you're into very modern gameplay or bonus rounds, this game probably isn't for you.
