G’day CasinoGuru community. I’m currently working on a couple of articles about gambling in pop culture. You guys could really help me out by answering a few questions:

  1. What movies that involve gambling process (whether online or offline) have you seen? Does the process depicted in them correspond to reality?
  2. What gambling-related songs (including those that simply have words like 'casino', 'jackpot', etc.) do you know?

Looking forward to see your answers. I hope this discussion will be not only useful for me, but also interesting for you 🙂

Such an interesting Topic, I'm afraid you'll have to Google it.

Most gambling movies that I have watched are criminal movies, they mostly ends in bloodshed.

I can only recommend chese movies and its quite popular, almost everyone is familiar with the movies.

Hello and welcome, if only I have more time....

song - Ace of Spades 😀

movie - Rain Man

More songs by Google: https://bit.ly/3gLytDI

I'm sure you can do the rest with songs 😁

Yeah, you’re right, there are several articles on Google on this subject, yet I don’t really want to make my articles a copy and paste thing. Besides, Google offers hackneyed examples, and I hope to find something less obvious.

Thank you for the answer and especially for the ‘typical ending’ part! It would be interesting to know how often such movies end with something other than scenes of violence..

Thanks, Radka! The song is fire. If you remember something else (and you have free time), please share 🙂

Have you seen Croupier from 1998? It's 24 years old movie, but I still believe it's one of the best from the casino environment.

How about something based on a true story?

Owning Mahowny movie.

Can anyone name some songs? 😀

It seems that I'm not well-oriented about the subject, after all. 😁

I can share some of my findings:

ABBA - The Winner Takes It All

Esthesis - Place Your Bets

Houndmouth - Casino (Bad Things)

Sam Baker - Slots

Bruno Mars, Silk Sonic, Anderson Paak - 777

+ a new release that I like (although it meets the criteria, it has nothing to do with gambling) Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino

upd: just realized that I messed up, and the AM song is actually from the preceding album 😀

The Movie '21' is loosely based on the true story about the MIT blackjack club. A bunch of students getting millions from Vegas Casinos by doing card counting as a team

Not based on a true story but Guy Richie's LOCK, STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS shows in a very entertaining way, why it's never a good idea doing gambling in not licensed places.
