No KYC Until Withdrawal — Fair Policy or a Red Flag

A lot of crypto casinos make signup and deposits really quick, but verification sometimes only comes up when you try to withdraw.

Do you think that’s fair for security, or should KYC requirements be made clear before someone deposits?

Would this make you avoid a casino, or does it depend on the situation?

Good question, and I know players have discussed this in the past as well. I’ve seen some players who would prefer to verify their account immediately, while others don’t really mind when the verification takes place.

In my experience, the vast majority of casinos usually ask players to complete verification around the time of their first withdrawal. Sometimes it can happen earlier or later, but this is generally the most common point when KYC is requested.

Some casinos allow you to verify your account in advance, while many simply don’t require it until there’s a reason to do so.

What would you personally prefer?

I think the main problem is when players feel like the rules changed after they already started playing. I don’t really have an issue with KYC itself, especially if it’s related to security or bigger withdrawals, but it should be mentioned clearly from the beginning. Finding out about verification only when you’re trying to cash out can definitely feel frustrating. Transparency matters more than whether a casino asks for KYC or not.

I’d rather know about KYC before depositing. Getting asked for documents only when you finally want to withdraw feels like the worst possible timing.

I'd say, as far as I know, there is a slight difference between undergoing KYC right after the verification and being thoroughly checked when the first or perhaps a larger withdrawal is submitted for review.

The first situation actually allows the casino to verify only details shared in the registration. Later checks primarily assess gaming activity, AML compliance, payment patterns, and overall account behavior, technically the factors that the initial "pre-KYC" review could not fully verify.

I personally admire casinos that have enough manpower or technical options to run those checks efficiently while also providing at least a few details to players along the way.

I think it depends on the situation. Some level of verification is understandable for security and compliance reasons, but it’s better when casinos are transparent about their KYC process from the beginning. Unexpected checks during withdrawal can create a bad experience, especially if players weren’t aware of them.
